Anna Kendrick Shows Off Fit Body in New Summer Photo Drop

Anna Kendrick, the talented actress and singer best known for her roles in Pitch Perfect and Up In The Air, recently gave her fans a glimpse of her summer fun through an Instagram post captioned, “A summer drop before summer drops me.” While she’s busy with work, Kendrick makes time for self-care and wellness, focusing on finding joy and balance in her life. From hiking to staying flexible and strong, Kendrick’s approach to health is all about improving her quality of life while still having fun. Here’s a closer look at how she stays fit and healthy.

Kendrick shared some of her wellness secrets with Shape. She says that she aims to find a work-life balance in her life. “I’m trying to have a sense of play,” she says. “A lot of my life over the last decade has been work, recover, work, recover. That doesn’t leave much room for anything else. That’s the mindset and the reality for a lot of people. You work and then recover so you can work some more. Putting some fun and silliness into my life is one of my goals.”

Kendrick shared her go-to workout with Shape. “Right now I’m in a hiking phase,” she revealed. “I live in a funky hilly area of L.A., and I realized I had to commit to going on a hike because I get my best ideas then. Actually, it’s more like mental clarity. Sometimes I’m in my head too much, and I overanalyze things. When I’m walking, I can work through whatever it is.”

Kendrick revealed in her Shape interview that she had to change her approach to fitness. “For a long time, working out meant that the only goal was to change the shape of your body. But now it’s about the strength and flexibility aspects, rather than appearance. I definitely had to shift my thinking about it, from doing something to punish myself to doing something to make my quality of life better.”

Kendrick likes to drink ginger to stay healthy. “I keep wellness shots of ginger, lemon, and cayenne from Pressed Juicery in my fridge,” she said to Shape. “If I’m traveling and I can’t have ginger, I’ll feel sick. There was a time when I was in Germany for three months and I couldn’t find a crushed-juice place. So I bought a juicer and a bunch of ginger to make it myself because I was positive it was the only thing keeping me alive.”

Kendrick shared some of her favorite workouts with The Los Angeles Times. She says that she does a variety of things to stay in shape. “I’ve been taking Pure Barre, and I live in a part of L.A. where I can take a hike straight out my front door. If I’m on set and there’s no other option, I get on a treadmill, but that’s my most hated thing. I used to exercise an hour every day — no excuses. I live in absolutes: I either exercise every day or I let myself off the hook. I’m trying to find that balance of working out three or four days a week and sticking to it. I never have used a trainer. I’m slightly intimidated by the idea of somebody in my face.”
