Jennifer Lopez Feels ‘Some Bitterness’ About Split From Ben Affleck

Sources close to the pair revealed that they’re adopting an optimistic mindset. Affleck is seemingly “doing well” and “slowly moving into his new home,” while Lopez “still feels very fortunate” about her life.

However, Ben Affleck is allegedly conflicted over how Jennifer Lopez treats his children, as she has continued to show them affection despite their divorce.

According to People Magazine, the Oscar winner and the “Jenny From The Block” singer are choosing to focus on the positives as they move forward with their divorce.

A source close to Affleck told the news outlet that he is “doing well” and “slowly moving into his new home,” which he bought for $20.5 million last month.

“He’s where he wants to be: close to his kids and in a neighborhood that he loves,” the source noted. “He enjoys working too, and is very focused on the positives.”

A source close to Lopez also disclosed that “she still feels very fortunate” with her life even though she feels “some bitterness” about the split, adding that the actress “tried so hard to make things work and it didn’t matter to Ben.”

“She’s surrounded by family, friends, and her kids,” the insider shared. “She always manages to have a positive outlook. The divorce is difficult for her, but she always finds a way to move forward.”

Lopez filed for divorce from Affleck at the Los Angeles County Superior Court nearly two weeks ago, following months of speculation that their marriage had ended.

The “Atlas” actress filed for divorce without using a lawyer, listing April 26 as the day of their separation.

This unusual filing led legal expert Marilyn Chinitz to weigh in on their split, explaining that the 55-year-old singer “just wanted to get this done.”

“I think that she most likely just wanted to get this done, [that] there was a lot of hesitation and hemming and hawing back and forth, and it’s a statement, ‘I’m moving forward, I’m filing and I’m doing it on my own,'” Chinitz, who is the matrimonial partner at Blank Rome LLP, told People.

The legal expert, who isn’t connected to the case, noted that the pair have been “probably working with a mediator” amid their troubled marriage.

“I think it’s a real statement from her saying, ‘I’m moving forward. Counsel or no counsel on filing,'” she noted.

Chinitz further discussed the shocking fact that Affleck and Lopez did not sign a prenuptial agreement before they married in 2022.

She noted that it was “extremely unusual” but gave an explanation for why they decided not to get one.

“The only time that you see people not having a prenup is when they’ve put most of their assets in trust for their children, and those trusts have been established and they wouldn’t be part of the community [property],” Chinitz explained.

Responding to whether their divorce is “amicable,” the legal expert said, “I think the next step is to see how he [Affleck] responds, and I think that will give us a clue as to what’s going on.”

According to InTouch Weekly, Affleck, who has not contacted Lopez’s kids in a while, is unsettled about how his estranged wife continues to relate to his children.

“They have always had vastly different styles of parenting. Ben spoils them from time to time and gives them their favorite treats, but J. Lo really showers them with gifts like nobody’s business,” an insider shared.

They added, “She’s very much a Disneyland stepmom. She’s always picking up treats for them, she always seems to know just what will make them happy and gets a real kick out of making them smile.”

The insider further noted, “She’s showing a lot of class, and it’s gone a long way to softening him towards her…[But] that’s just not the way he wants to raise them long term. It’s OK right now while they’re going through this tough time, but the last thing he wants is to raise spoiled kids so it’s a little tough.”

Amid their divorce proceedings, the 52-year-old actor has been accused of trying to silence talk about his past links with Kick Kennedy because he worries it will affect his divorce from Lopez.

Rumors previously surfaced suggesting that the pair had hung out a couple of times; however, the actor’s rep slammed the rumors as “untrue.”

“Ben should have said nothing,” a source told the Daily Mail. “He tried to erase Kick from his existence, and it was just not fair for her or for anyone who knows her.”

“He is trying to pull the ‘I don’t know her’ card but what he failed to realize is that they weren’t the only two people in the world that knew that they used to hook up, or that they were hanging out again,” the source added. “He fears that this will affect his divorce and, even though there was no overlap, saying he didn’t even know her was not the right move.”
