Jennifer Lopez’s marriage to Ben Affleck ended as soon as it began, as the couple officially filed for divorce this week after just two years of marriage.

While there is likely a litany of reasons that led to their divorce — Ben Affleck previously explained how much Jennifer Lopez’s overwhelming fame and subsequent attention frustrates him — one that’s cropped up is Affleck’s reported uncomfortableness with being J. Lo’s “muse” in her creative endeavors.

This Is Me… Now: A Love Story, is described by Prime Video as being “a narrative-driven, cinematic original which showcases her journey to love through Jennifer Lopez’s own eyes.”

In addition to Affleck (who played a character called “The Biker”) and Lopez, This Is Me… Now: A Love Story starred Jane Fonda, Fat Joe, Kim Petras, Keke Palmer, Post Malone, Sofía Vergara, Jenifer Lewis, Jay Shetty, Neil deGrasse Tyson, Sadhguru, Derek Hough, and Trevor Noah.

“Ben Affleck was hesitant to share details of his private life with Jennifer Lopez the second time around, so he wasn’t ecstatic to be his wife’s muse for her self-financed $20 million three-part multimedia project about being a serial romantic,” reports the New York Post.

“I don’t think he’s very comfortable with me doing all of this,” Lopez said in The Greatest Love Story Never Told, a documentary about the making of a movie that accompanied her new album (yes, seriously). “He wants to do that [for me], but that doesn’t mean he’s comfortable being the muse.”

Affleck and Lopez — who famously dated in the early 2000s, leading to the joint nickname “Bennifer” — reunited in 2021 and got married in July 2022 after going through divorces with Jennifer Garner and Alex Rodriguez, respectively (J. Lo and A-Rod were not technically married, but engaged).

Their marriage, however, was like a “fever dream” for Affleck, according to sources, that he’s now woken up out of.
