Today, on the eve of their departure for a sprawling fall tour, Goose have set off its next act with the official release of Live at the Fox Theatre. Goose’s latest live release captures performances at the famed Atlanta venue from the heat of its summer tour–the rapidly rising indie-groove group’s longest headline tour to date. In the latter two dates of its three-night run from June 20-22, the band gave some of its most thrilling performances yet, with its new quintet’s chemistry now totally cemented and pushing out to bold new sonic frontiers.
Live at the Fox Theatre is split in a two-disk format, assembling the complete setlists from its June 21 and 22 shows on an expansive 25-track setlist. Among the many highlights of this top-tier compilation are the band’s only 2024 treatments of some timeless covers, drawing on such diverse sources as Echo & the Bunnymen’s “The Killing Moon,” The Clash’s “Rock the Casbah,” The Wood Brothers’ “Atlas” and the band’s second ever rendition of The Band’s “The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down.”
Beyond these memorable moments, the album features a number of adventurous and pioneering jams, including 22-minute stagings of “Drive” and “Hungersite,” a 25-minute “Red Bird,” 27-minute “Tumble” and an unbelievable, dynamic, ripping 28-minute “Tumble.” Live at the Fox Theatre shows the group riding a high with confidence and precision, eagerly greeting a new chapter in its 10th year and raising the bar ever higher. A limited-edition five-LP hardcover vinyl box set of this final show is also available for pre-order via Diggers Factory.
Goose will embark on the recently announced fall tour on Sept. 1 with a performance at Holmdel, N.J.’s PNC Bank Arts Center. In the following three months on the road, the band will make 40 appearances across the across the country, including multi-night residencies at such high-profile stages as Boston’s MGM Music Hall at Fenway, Chicago’s The Salt Shed, Missoula, Mont.’s KettleHouse Amphitheater, Asheville, N.C.’s ExploreAsheville.com Arena, Cincinnati’s Andrew J Brady Music Center and Washington, D.C.’s The Anthem.
This thrilling series will come to a close in December, when the band treats its audience to its annual Goosemas celebration at North Charleston, S.C.’s North Charleston Coliseum and its inaugural New Year’s Eve Formal Affair, for which fans are cordially invited to join the ensemble at Austin, Texas’ Moody Center ATX on Dec. 30-31.
