Blue Man Group have shared a cover of My Chemical Romance’s ‘Welcome To The Black Parade’, after listening to the all-time classic for the first time.
The performance art trio were taking part in Drumeo’s ongoing ‘For The First Time’ series, in which famous faces attempt to play a song on drums after hearing it for (you guessed it) the first time.
Previous episodes of the YouTube show have seen Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith take on Bring Me The Horizon’s ‘Can You Feel My Heart’, and the platform also saw Sleep Token drummer ‘II’ give their first-ever interview.
And now the Blue Man Group have offered their take on MCR’s emo anthem, after not only hearing it for a first time but by using an array of unconventional “instruments”, including PVC tubes and barrel drums.
The art collective first emerged in New York in the late 1980s and have since become a well-known performance group, always appearing as a trio and combining music, art and comedy.
In their latest act, they headed back to NY to take on Drumeo’s challenge, alongside their musical director Josh Matthews.
And listening to the My Chem favourite clearly left its impression on the group, who wrote on their socials: “Confirming the Blue Men are now fans of MCR.”
