Nick Cave Joins Stephen Colbert for Profound Interview

Nick Cave appeared as a guest on Late Show on Tuesday Night, where he and host Stephen Colbert sat down for a profound and insightful 20-plus minute interview.

Over the course of their conversation, Cave spoke about his view of music and how it’s changed over the years, meeting his hero and collaborating with Johnny Cash, processing grief, the Bad Seeds’ new album Wild God, and his advice column the Red Hand Files. The segment served as both a showcase of Cave’s seemingly infinite wisdom and Colbert’s skill as a master interview. Watch the full extended interview below.

Wild God is the first studio album from Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds since 2019’s Ghosteen, and will arrive on August 30th via PIAS. Earlier this year, Cave himself described the album as a “complicated record,” which ultimately is “deeply and joyously infectious.” The full album’s arrival was preceded by several singles, including the title track, which was named Song of the Week when it arrived.

Up next, Cave and the Bad Seeds will hit the road for a European tour in support of Wild God, kicking off next month in Germany. Get tickets here.

In other Cave news, he is set to score the upcoming Amy Winehouse biopic, Back to Black. In April, he released a song he contributed to the score, “Song for Amy.”
