Eva Mendes recently dished on her experience attending the 2024 Olympics with her longtime partner, fellow actor Ryan Gosling, and why she had her “guard up” while she was there.

The “Hitch” star shared a post on Instagram earlier this week that showed her looking out a balcony from her hotel in Paris.

“Morning in Paris,” she wrote. “Sleep marks and all.”

“The minute I see photographers when I’m out, my guard and my wall goes up,” she continued, before praising the hotel for providing “the best experience.”

Mendes and Gosling, who are notoriously private and rarely photographed out in public together, were spotted in the crowd watching some events at the Paris Games last weekend.

The couple share two daughters, Esmeralda and Amada, whom they typically keep away from the public eye.

While responding to some of her Instagram followers, Mendes confirmed in the comments section that their daughters were watching the Games with them.

She said she appreciated the fact that photographers and the NBC Olympics broadcast were respectful about protecting the privacy of her kids.

“I love [that] [NBC Olympics] didn’t cut away to the kids!” she wrote in one comment. “And most sites blurred their faces so mama bear is happy about that. Anyway it felt so good to be there and feel unified with people.”

Mendes also responded to an Instagram user who said that the actor should have expected the attention her family received in Paris.

“I’m not saying I don’t expect it — I’m saying I put a guard up. Which I’m happy to do,” she responded. “I like that I don’t parade out there. But I feel like I can let my guard down on my page. Hence my post.”

Fans of Gosling and Mendes, who have been together for over a decade, have wondered for years whether the two actors had quietly wed. Mendes referred to Gosling as her husband in 2022.

Either way, the duo have publicly showcased their love for each other over the years.

While doing press for his movie “The Fall Guy” in May, Gosling wore a shirt that featured the title of Mendes’ new children’s book set to release in September, “Desi, Mami, and the Never-Ending Worries.”

People online spotted the sweet gesture, including Mendes, who wrote on Instagram at the time that she was “feeling the love.”
