Pink Floyd guitarist David Gilmour has expressed the utmost confidence in his upcoming solo comeback album, Luck and Strange, describing it as his best piece of work since The Dark Side of the Moon came out five decades ago.
“It’s over 50 years now since The Dark Side of the Moon,” Gilmour told Prog magazine in a recent interview (via Guitar World). “My feeling is that this album is the best album I’ve made in all those years since 1973 when The Dark Side of the Moon came out.”

Considering that Pink Floyd went on to release further classics with Animals in 1977 and 1979’s The Wall, that’s no small statement. Perhaps Gilmour’s ongoing tensions with former bandmate Roger Waters have tarnished his memory of the albums.
Gilmour has also put out a string of successful solo albums including On an Island and Rattle That Lock, which topped the UK charts in 2006 and 2015, respectively.
