Adut revealed she is currently halfway through her pregnancy and dished on how the experience has been going.

“I’m good. I’m excited. I can’t wait. I’m like—can they just come already? I’m kind of over it and I’m just halfway,” she told Vogue.

She added that it has been a “beautiful feeling, but a mental and physical rollercoaster.”

“Nothing really ever prepares you for it,” she continued.

At 24 years old, Adut said she is looking forward to being a young mom and “loves the idea of growing up with her kids.”

Adut also explained that the close age difference between her and her mother played a “huge role” in how close they became.

The model revealed that right before she found out she was pregnant, she had a dream that her sister was.

Shortly after, Adut started having unusual food cravings and was more exhausted than usual.

The moment of realization came to her after she felt carsick, which prompted her to pick up a pregnancy test.

“I was picking up my car from the service center—with my bag of oranges!—and when driving back home, I started feeling like I was going to throw up,” she said.

A few months later, Adut now jokes that it feels as though she has a “brick sitting on the top of her vagina” and says she has experienced many “bizarre cravings.”

“I want everything—I’ll force my mom to cook three traditional dishes and on top of that I’m having KFC,” she joked.

GROWING FROM THE PAST

Originally born in South Sudan, Adut spent roughly the first eight years of her life in a Kakuma refugee camp in Kenya after her family fled civil war.

Adut, her mom, and five siblings then headed to Australia, where Adut started her career at a young age.

I can’t wait. I’m like—can they just come already? I’m kind of over it and I’m just halfway.”

She first walked down the runway at the age of 13 for her aunt’s clothing label, a few years before booking a two-season contract with Saint Laurent.

When it comes to how Adut plans to raise her child, she wants to instill the same values she had from growing up under difficult circumstances.

“When you don’t come from much, you don’t really value the material stuff,” she told the abovementioned outlet.

“I could have easily gotten carried away with the life that I now live. But I think I’ve always just in the back of my head: Remember where you came from.

“If I can take care of my family and take care of myself, that’s it, I’m happy,” she added.

Adut said she just wants to “teach her kids what’s valuable,” noting that she wants them to be “kind, decent human beings.”

She also noted that she will be making her kids work and save enough money to buy their first cars.

ADUT’S CAREER

Adut signed her first modeling contract with Chadwick Models at the age of 16.

She made her Fashion Week debut in 2017, walking in Saint Laurent’s S/S 17 show.

Adut has since Akech appeared in campaigns for Saint Laurent, Valentino, Zara, and Moschino.

She has also walked for designers such as Alexander McQueen, Givenchy, Prada, Miu Miu, Tom Ford, Tory Burch, Calvin Klein, Burberry, and Versace.

She was named Model of the Year by Models.com in 2018 and 2019 and received an award of the same title at the British Fashion Awards in 2019.

Earlier this year, Adut also appeared on the cover of British Vogue’s March issue alongside other models to honor Karl Lagerfeld‘s legacy.
