Revivalists frontman David Shaw has unveiled his aptly personal new single, “Take A Look Inside,” via his Yokoko Records. The latest number functions with meditative-like power as the songwriter examines past traumas and, in turn, offers a beacon of hope to inspire positivity. The official animated music video, directed by Texas-based graphic and motion designer Andrew Knives, is paired with the single.

“Take A Look Inside” was produced by Shaw at Esplanade Studios in his adopted hometown, New Orleans. The track functions as Shaw’s response to ongoing upheaval, including diminishing reproductive control and the Supreme Court decision that embryos created during IVF fertility treatments should be considered children, all of which occurred while the musician was welcoming a daughter–using those feelings and emotions and fueling them into today’s release.

The new single arrives after his previous release, “Alabama,” which emphasizes Shaw’s prolific rate of deliverables, a trend that he continues to take part in leading up to solo tour dates, a series of long-awaited headlining stands–a formal tour named after today’s single drop. The excursion begins on Halloween, Oct. 31, at the historic Tipitina’s venue and lasts till late November, with stops spread from coast to coast.

Revivalist appeared on the July/ Aug. 2023 cover of Relix in support of their fifth studio album, Pour It Out Into the Night. Buy a copy of the magazine here
