20 Movies Everybody Must See At Least Once

People like to pretend that there’s a science to filmmaking, that if you press the right combination of buttons on a camera, a good movie falls out, but it’s not that simple. One person’s favorite movie might completely fail to resonate with another. There is almost certainly someone out there who believes Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves is the pinnacle of the art form. It takes all kinds, and some of those kinds shouldn’t be allowed to vote.

But some movies are just objectively good. There isn’t a person alive who would watch it and say, “Honestly, that kind of sucked.” Maybe it introduced a filmmaking technique that everyone now uses or featured an all-star cast and crew at the top of their game or the forces of the universe just combined in all the right ways in a once-in-a-generation miracle.
