She captioned the post, “As much as I love (and promote) a life of balance and eating foods you LOVE, I wanna keep it real with you that sacrifices were made – and needed to be followed to in order to get BIG results.” How does she stay so fit? In her Instagram post, Gentles revealed that she didn’t completely deprive herself of food she enjoyed. “I limited myself to 1 FUN meal per week (and I mean really fun),” she wrote in the caption. “For me, this was always pizza. I love my pizza and I will never give it up, lol. #sorrynotsorry I do thoroughly enjoy the meals I eat throughout the week, and I understand that 1 treat meal is not going to derail my whole process, so I allow myself to indulge without feeling guilt around it.”
Gentles did cut some things out in order to lose weight. She shared what she did in her post’s caption. “I cut out mindless snacking. Instead of buying chips, crackers, and cookies at the grocery store, I got more intentional with my snacks and opted for things with protein and fiber. I also limited the sauces and oils I was using on my foods. This really helped me get through the stubborn plateaus.”
Gentles made sure to reduce the amount of sugar in her diet. She talked about this in her Instagram post. “I significantly reduced added sugar. My sugar dependency was honestly holding me back. As much as I wanted balance here, the addiction was real. So I created a boundary here (less than 25g) and stuck to it.“
Gentles wants her wellness habits to be consistent. She talked about the specific things she did in the caption of this Instagram post. “When I started my 100 lbs weight loss journey, I wanted the weight gone fast, so I tried every fad diet. I’d lose 20 lbs quickly but always yo-yo back up. 👉🏾 I soon realized restrictive diets weren’t sustainable for me. I embraced the power of small, consistent habits over time. 👉🏾 I re-started my journey by reducing, not eliminating, my added sugar intake. This helped me shed the first 10 lbs. Then, I added more veggies to my diet since eliminating foods only made me crave them more.”
Gentles likes to cook some of her own meals. She shared her recipe for an egg sandwich in this Instagram post. “🥚 Start by adding 8 eggs to a bowl. 👩🏾🍳 Then add your favorite mix-ins. I chose red onions, tomatoes, chives, parsley, salt, pepper, onion powder, and garlic powder. Mix it all together! 🍽️ Grease a baking dish and pour the egg mix in. 🧀 Top with cheese. 🥓 Then prepare your bacon. Bake the eggs and your bacon at 350F (175C) for about 20-25 minutes until the bacon is crispy and the eggs are firm. 🍞 Assemble your sandwiches! I used chipotle sauce, but you can use any sauce you’d like (pesto would also taste yummy). Top with egg and bacon. Wrap in parchment paper.”
