Harry Styles Scores Biggest Sales Week of 2022 With ‘Harry’s House’

Harry Styles has just earned the biggest album sales week of the year so far.

The British pop star has officially cemented his third No. 1 album on the Billboard 200 with Harry’s House, which earned 521,500 equivalent album units in the U.S. during its first week, per Billboard

That number breaks down to 330,000 album sales—of which 182,000 were copies sold on vinyl—, 189,000 SEA units, and 2,500 TEA units. The record earned 246.96 million on-demand streams of its 13 total tracks, and secured a modern-era record for single-week vinyl album sales, beating out Taylor Swift’s Red (Taylor’s Version), which sold 114,000 vinyl copies in its first week in 2021. This makes him the first UK male artist to debut at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 three times.

Only four LPs have earned at least 500,000 equivalent album units in a one week over the last 18 months, a list that also includes Red (Taylor’s Version), Adele’s 30, and Drake’s Certified Lover Boy, Billboard notes. This week, Bad Bunny’s Un Verano Sin Ti sits comfortably at No. 2 with 155,000 equivalent album units, as Kendrick Lamar’s Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers falls to No. 3 after a first week No. 1 debut with 96,000 units.

“I was kind of like, ‘I’d be really fun to make an album called Harry’s House,’ and thought about it being this smaller thing,” Styles said during an interview with Zane Lowe when talking about his new album. “And then it was back to that thing of, ‘Maybe that’s an album I’ll make in four years or five years or whatever.’ And as I started making the album, I realized it wasn’t about the geographical location. It’s much more of an internal thing.”
