Serj Tankian Unveils New Song “Justice Will Shine On”

System of a Down singer Serj Tankian has unveiled the new single “Justice Will Shine On” from his forthcoming EP, Foundations.

“Justice Will Shine On” follows the EP’s first single, “A.F. Day,” which arrived in May. The new song deals directly with the Armenian Genocide, as Tankian sings about the horror his ancestors experienced: “Can you tell me dear grandfather of your childhood so far away/ You can see the death of laughter in his teared eyes disarray/ Can you tell me dear grandmother of your childhood from hunger and pain/ Of the orphans you called brothers in her teared eyes disarray.”

In addition to releasing the single, Tankian has also shared the release date (September 27th via Gibson Records) and artwork for the Foundations EP. The cover art is a painting titled “Sunburst” created by Tankian himself.

Tankian has been busy as of late. Earlier this year, he released his memoir, Down with the System. Furthermore, he recently opened the Kavat Café / Eye For Sound Art Gallery in the Eagle Rock neighborhood of Los Angeles.

On August 17th, Tankian will be performing with System of a Down when they co-headline a one-off concert with Deftones at Golden Gate Park in San Francisco. Tickets are available here.
