Ryan Gosling Lands First Emmy Nomination for SNL Episode

Ryan Gosling has picked up his first Emmy nomination for hosting a memorable Saturday Night Live episode in April.

There were several standout sketches in the April 13th episode, but Gosling’s spoof of Beavis and Butt-Head with SNL cast member Mikey Day was an instant classic. A few weeks later, the duo reprised the characters during the Hollywood premiere of Gosling’s action thriller, The Fall Guy, and hilariously crashed an interview with co-star Emily Blunt.

Other notable moments during Gosling’s third time hosting SNL included Gosling and Blunt spoofing Taylor Swift’s “All Too Well,” a sequel sketch to Papyrus, and Caitlin Clark dunking on Michael Che during Weekend Update. Revisit the Beavis and Butt-Head skit below.

The viral episode landed Saturday Night Live multiple Emmy nominations in the variety show-related categories, including directing, hairstyling, and makeup. Maya Rudolph and Kristen Wiig also received nominations for hosting SNL.

Next up for Gosling is a starring gig in the sci-fi film Project Hail Mary. He’s also attached to produce a zombie movie titled I Used to Eat Brains, Now I Eat Kale.
