Jennifer Garner In Whitewater Rafting Gear Says “Thank You Summer”

Jennifer Garner is having a fun-filled summer in Montana, based on her recent social media updates. Garner, 52, shared a video of herself perching on a raft, wearing protective clothing and a white helmet against a gorgeous background of pines and blue skies. “Thank you summer ☀️,” she captioned the post. “Ugh gorgeous 🤩🌲,” commented friend Aisha Tyler. Garner is thriving in her 50s—here’s how this busy mom of three stays fit, happy, and active.

Garner gets up at 5.30 a.m. to work out, even when she’s traveling. “I will use a hotel gym or I will do one of The Limit on-demand videos that you can use without any weights or without anything, just to get my heart rate going,” she told TODAY. “I also really like the Peloton app. I’m not a runner, but if I’m listening to one of the outdoor running things on the app where they’re talking you through the run and you’re running, say, in intervals and you get a break every now and then or you slow down every now and then, it makes the time go more quickly. And so I use that a lot when I’m traveling.”

Garner always carries nuts with her for a healthy snack. “I have gone through spells of traveling a lot and I’m always panicked that I’ll get on a plane and I won’t have something healthy to eat and I’ll find myself knee-deep in my neighbor’s rigatoni after I finish my own,” she told TODAY. “So I guess I panic that I don’t have anything and I keep adding to the bag without ever taking out.”

Garner sticks to drugstore products like Neutrogena, who she’s worked with for years. “I have always, always, always washed my face at night no matter what, even if I don’t have makeup on,” she told Who What Wear. “I like to go to bed with clean skin. I want it working for me while I sleep. I’ll use retinol—the Rapid Wrinkle Repair is what I use because it’s around, and I have it. I’ve learned that I can trust it, and I don’t need to go fancy. I just really stick with what I know and trust.”

Garner goes to see aesthetician Nerida Joy for skincare treatments. “I have seen her since 2000, and she is IT!” she told New Beauty. “I’m scared of all the stuff other people do. I’ve never done a peel; I don’t do lasers. I like my skin and I don’t want it to be thinner. Nerida is so big on just having a great skin massage. She can also always tell if I’ve switched products, and she really loves the zone that I’m in right now with my every-other-night cycle. If she’s happy with my skin, I’m happy.”

Garner’s beauty philosophy is less is more. “I just want to look like myself,” she told Who What Wear. “I can’t say that I’m particularly gutsy with my beauty choices either in what I wear—clearly—or in makeup and hair. I mean, I did chop all my hair off. In that way, I just wanted something fresh and different, and that felt really, really good. But for the most part, I want to look like the best version of me that I can. So I’d rather take care of my skin and give my hair every bit of advantage it can.”
