Jaimie Alexander in Workout Gear Shares Upper-Body Workout

Jaimie Alexander is showing off her strong body with a new workout video. In a recent social media post, the Blindspot actress flaunts her fit figure in workout gear while executing a strenuous workout. “Stronger…one day at a time. 😜💪🏻,” she captioned the Instagram video. How does she approach diet, fitness, and self-care? Here is everything you need to know about her lifestyle habits.

“I have very long, full days at work and don’t get much of a break to eat, so it’s important that I have good snacking food,” says the actress, 31. “I need something I can grab on the run and eat throughout the day between scenes to give me energy, to feel full and to keep my metabolism functioning,” Jaimie told People. “I don’t deny myself a treat every now and then, like fresh chocolate chip cookies,” she says. “Healthy eating should be part of your lifestyle rather than a chore you dread.”

For breakfast Jaimie has 1 cup of coffee with almond milk, and a protein smoothie with 1 scoop of Sunwarrior vanilla vegan protein and 2 cups of Califia Farms almond milk. Lunch is 2 scrambled eggs with mushrooms, spinach, cheese and pesto with a corn tortilla with a dash of Vegenaise. She snacks on Organic Avenue juice with cucumber, kale and celery, 1 piece of fruit, 2 cups of arugula salad with olive oil, pink salt and a sprinkle of Parmesan cheese, 1 chocolate chip cookie, half a cup of raw almonds, and 1 cup of veggies with hummus dip. Dinner might be a piece of salmon, 1 cup steamed broccoli, 1/2 cup steamed carrots, 1/2 cup steamed green beans, and 1 teaspoon of Earth Balance spread on the veggies with a dash of pink salt.

Jaimie prioritizes hydration. She drinks 3 liters of water per day. According to the Mayo Clinic, hydration is important for a variety of reasons. Water helps get rid of waste through urination, perspiration, and bowel movements, keeps your temperature normal, lubricates and cushions joints, and helps protect sensitive tissues.

Jaimie learned to box with Chris Hemsworth while prepping for Thor. “I wasn’t very healthy in my twenties—I sat around and ate a lot of crap, and my weight peaked at 150 pounds. Then I got the part in Thor. I felt as if I had a whole new purpose in life. I was like, I can do this, but I was so out of shape. Chris and I started boxing to train for our roles, and I became the athlete I was in high school. I lost 20 pounds and packed on a ton of muscle,” she told Shape.

In Jaimie’s workout video she does 21s, weighted pushups and upright rows. “Part of my upper body maintenance,” she says. She added that “not in the video” she did bench press, push downs, chin-ups, face-pulls, lateral raises, and standing cable flys. According to the Mayo Clinic, strength and weight training help reduce body fat, preserve and increase lean muscle mass, and burn calories more efficiently. Strength training may also help you:

  • Develop strong bones
  • Manage your weight
  • Enhance your quality of life
  • Manage chronic conditions
  • Sharpen your thinking skills
