Caity Lotz is ready to go at the gym in her workout clothes. In a new social media post the Mad Men star shows off her fit figure in exercise clothes during an intense workout session. “LFG Feels good to sweat #workoutmotivation @thelabsunset @bodychemist,” she captioned the Instagram video. How does she approach diet, fitness, and self-care? Here is everything you need to know about her lifestyle habits.
Lotz was a skilled martial artist prior to The Flash. “The weapons training adds authenticity,” she told Muscle & Fitness. “You [think], ‘Yeah, she could kill a few people.'” Studies confirm that the practice helps with balance, cognitive function and psychological health in addition to weight loss and physical fitness.
She also told Muscle & Fitness that she likes Muay Thai and also practices “tricking,” a flashy training discipline that blends flips and kicks into a fluid movement. “It’s not street fighting, but it looks great on camera,” Lotz said.
Yoga is another one of her go-to workouts, Caity told Muscle & Fitness. There is a laundry list of reasons to do yoga, explains Harvard Health. “Researchers found that people who practiced yoga for at least 30 minutes once a week for at least four years, gained less weight during middle adulthood,” they said. “People who were overweight actually lost weight. Overall, those who practiced yoga had lower body mass indexes (BMIs) compared with those who did not practice yoga. Researchers attributed this to mindfulness. Mindful eating can lead to a more positive relationship with food and eating.”
Caity loves to hike, especially during her pregnancy. Now that I’m (hopefully) past all the nausea and extreme fatigue, I’m loving being pregnant!
In her recent video, Caity does a number of strength training exercises on unique equipment. However, you don’t need much equipment to build muscle with strength training. According to the Mayo Clinic, strength and weight training help reduce body fat, preserve and increase lean muscle mass, and burn calories more efficiently. Strength training may also help you:
- Develop strong bones
- Manage your weight
- Enhance your quality of life
- Manage chronic conditions
- Sharpen your thinking skills
