Florida-based model Riss Dubois (@realitywithriss) recently modeled in Miami at Swim Week for notorious brands like Oh Polly, Olivia London Swimwear, GSaints Swimwear, and Lili Creation, to name a few.

While backstage at the Art Hearts Fashion Miami Swim Week show, she spoke to The U.S. Sun about her entry into the industry, memorable runway moments, and her trick to staying confident.

DOUBTFUL DECISION

“When I first started modeling, I was recruited to model in Miami and I have big hips and a big butt,” she said.

Due to her body shape, the 29-year-old admitted that she didn’t always think she could be a model.

She revealed that she weighs 195 pounds with her bust being 34 inches, her waist 27 inches, and her hips 47 inches.

“I didn’t know that anyone would ever want me to model for them, but the bikini lane really loved me,” she added.

Thus, she kept getting booked for bikini jobs and campaigns.

Riss said doing Swim Week was just a “natural progression” from being a swimwear model.

When she’s not bikini modeling, she is also a popular influencer in the Miami area.

She now boasts over 800,000 followers on Instagram who enjoy her swimwear and fitness content.

RIGHT FIT

Riss said that normally doesn’t have problems finding bathing suits for her body and credits it to her diet and fit lifestyle.

“Luckily, I am very thick and curvy, but at the same time, I do have a very athletic fit build, so I haven’t had too many issues finding bikinis,” she said.

Although she has run into her fair share of issues at times.

“Sometimes one pieces are too tight on the bottom and then too big on the top because I do have a pear shape,” she added.

“A lot of times the boobs will be too big for me if the bottom fits.”

“I just look like I’m a confident, bad b***h at all times.”

Riss shared some fashion hacks that models and non-models can do to ensure their bikinis don’t budge.

“These are swimsuits, accidents can happen. Some girls like to put on hairspray if they have a swimsuit that’s shifting or body tape,” she recommended.

But Riss has a simple trick that “helps the body look much better” and helps the bikini stay in place.

“I always just tell girls to make sure you roll your shoulders back right before you get on stage and have the best posture,” she advised.

CONFIDENCE KICK

Riss said she likes to present herself as confident at all times but shared that she has encountered some embarrassing moments and wardrobe malfunctions on the runway.

She revealed that an incident happened right before the interview but she played it off well.

Her rule of thumb on stage is to act like she’s “performing.”

“The last walk I did, I was in a shawl and the shawl was really, really big. On my walk back, the shawl slipped under my heel and I slipped a little bit, but I saved it. It wasn’t too bad,” she said.

“I just look like I’m a confident, bad b***h at all times,” she declared.

At the end of the day, confidence is key for the body positive model.
