Hallmark Channel and the Kansas City Chiefs have capitalized on the extra attention from Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift’s high-profile relationship by teaming up for a Christmas movie titled Holiday Touchdown: A Chiefs Love Story.
Starring in the made-for-TV film are Tyler Hynes (Letterkenny), Hunter King (The Young and the Restless), and Ed Begley Jr. (Better Call Saul). It will be shot entirely in Kansas City, including the Chiefs’ GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium.
To be fair, Holiday Touchdown: A Chiefs Love Story is hardly a carbon copy of Kelce and Swift’s romance. “Alana Higman (King) is sure that her family’s lifelong history as Kansas City Chiefs superfans makes them a frontrunner to win the team’s ‘Fan of the Year’ contest,” reads the official logline. “Derrick (Hynes), Director of Fan Engagement, is tasked with evaluating how Alana and her family stack up against the other two finalists.”
The description continues, “As the pair spends time together, it’s clear there’s a spark between them but when her grandfather’s (Begley Jr.) vintage Chiefs, good luck winter hat goes missing, Alana begins to doubt everything she believed about fate, destiny, and even questions her future with Derrick — unless, that is, a little Christmas magic can throw a Hail Mary.”
As Indiewire points out, the Chiefs previously spoofed Hallmark Channel holiday flicks by releasing a trailer for the fake movie Falling for Football. Watch that below.
Meanwhile, Swift brought out Kelce during her concert at Wembley Stadium on Sunday night.
