The birthday dresses I ordered didn’t arrive in time so I made my own from a bedsheet – trolls say I look ‘ridiculous’

Buddy Von took to Instagram to share how she made her own birthday outfit from a bedsheet

A WOMAN has found herself slated by trolls after showing the birthday outfit she made herself when the dresses she’d ordered didn’t arrive in time.

Singer Buddy explained that she’d found some perfect birthday ensembles online, and had ordered a selection to try on.

However, when they failed to arrive, Buddy tested out her creative skills by repurposing a black sheet, as she showed in a video on her Instagram page.

She turned one section into a plunging halterneck top, and the other into a sweeping skirt, which she tied up at the side.

Buddy posed up a storm in a mirror in the loo as she showed off the outfit, which drew attention to her impressive figure.

She wore her long, black hair loose and straight, and teamed the two-piece with a pair of towering black platform sandals.

“POV: Neither of your birthday dresses came in time, so you made a top and skirt out of a bedsheet,” she wrote over the top of the Reel.

As well as showing her reflection in the mirror, the video showed Buddy in a car headed to her birthday celebrations.

“Gotta do with you gotta do,” she captioned the video.

However, people in the comments section were less than impressed with the musician’s creativity.

“We can tell. This is tragic,” one wrote.

“It is indeed looking like a bedsheet,” another added.

“It’s dragging on the floor of a public bathroom. A. Public. Bathroom,” a third commented, alongside vomiting emojis.

“Shameful embarrassment,” someone else said.

“You look ridiculous!” another wrote.

While someone else mused: “Why you ain’t just go to Zara or the mall or something?”

But others defended Buddy, and insisted they loved the look she’d put together.

“Y’all some haters,” one wrote.

“Why I’m not giving up on the midi dress trend even if experts say it’s ‘dead'”

They’re easy to wear, styles for every occasion and they can suit every shape – but why is the midi dress no longer the must-have wardrobe staple?

Fabulous’ Deputy Fashion Editor, Abby McHale, is obsessed with midi dresses, and she disappointingly explains why they aren’t on-trend anymore.

“Over the years, I’ve worn midis to work, on holiday, to weddings, and even to a festival.

When Zara’s polka dot midi dress became a sell-out in 2019, I was one of the millions of owners — but I’d like it noted I bought it long before it became popular.

But fashion experts have declared the perma-dress — the trans-seasonal number in your wardrobe that you can wear at any time — is done.

I actually first heard this rumour last year when John Lewis fashion director Queralt Ferrer said the midi was one of the fashion items they had ‘to move on from’ as it’s ‘been around for too long’.

How could it be killed off, just like that? If we want it, surely the shops should supply it?

But shopping over the past six months, when usually I’d be inundated with dresses, I’ve struggled to find a single decent design on the whole of the high street.

The only dresses I see appear to be aimed at Gen Z — they are either skin-tight and clingy, or totally shapeless and plain boring.

And I am a firm believer in wearing what you love and what you feel comfortable in, but sadly none of these dresses tick those boxes for me.

There is some hope — John Lewis’s spring/summer collection has a couple of midi dresses in there.

And luckily, I still have a quarter of my wardrobe dedicated to them, ready for such occasions.”

“She did what she could with what she had.

“Creative af and she looks great!”

“If she didn’t state it half of y’all wouldn’t even notice,” another added.

“Just proves when you’re pretty af you can make anything look good,” a third commented.

“You rocked this,” someone else said.

“Happy Birthday!”

“And you still SLAYYY,” another agreed.

“It’s actually nice af,” someone else said.

As another wrote: “This is so cute!”
