Last week, Sturgill Simpson announced the release of forthcoming album Passage Du Desir, due July 12 on his own High Top Mountain Records label–the first full-length entry under his chosen Johnny Blue Skies moniker. Paired with the news were tour dates for Simpson’s run, dubbed Why Not? On the heels of the announcement, he shared a video on his official YouTube channel, outlining a plan to minimize ticket scalping.

The video, text over art, lays out Simpson’s approach to protecting his fans’ ability to purchase entry to impending live shows, “The “Why Not?” tour has opted out of using dynamic ticket pricing. We will be doing everything in our power to keep tickets in the hands of fans and out of the hands of scalpers. We are vetting our pre-sale sign ups for bad actors, doing face value ticket exchange, and limited platinum ticketing to combat scalpers and out of control prices.”

On the road, Simpson will take part in a coast-to-coast tour, following a festival slot at Outside Lands in San Francisco. The jaunt, which supports the forthcoming Passage Du Desir release, picks up on Sept. 14 at the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles and slowly migrates through the Pacific Northwest, Midwest, and inevitably the East Coast, culminating in a finish on Nov. 23 at MGM Music Hall at Fenway in Boston.
