EVA Mendes has defended her husband Ryan Gosling after The Fall Guy underwhelmed at the box office.
Earlier this month, the David Leitch-directed action-comedy opened to a lower-than-expected $27million
Since its May 3rd opening weekend, The Fall Guy has now tallied a domestic gross of $53million and a worldwide gross of $107million, per Box Office Mojo, against an estimated budget of $130million.
The film follows a down-and-out stuntman, played by Ryan, 43, as he attempts to win back the love of his life, played by Emily Blunt, 41, by finding the missing star of his film director ex-girlfriend’s blockbuster movie.
On Thursday, Ryan’s wife, access Eva Mendes, 50, came to The Fall Guy’s defense by posting disgruntled fan comments on Instagram.
One X, formally Twitter, post read, “Alright, why aren’t you people going to watch #TheFallGuy?”
The annoyed writer continued, “It’s the most fun I’ve had watching a movie in a LONG time.”
Another fan tweeted, “one thing that is not a spoiler to say is that no ryan character has ever boyfriend like colt seavers boyfriends.
“Not noah, not dean, not seb, not even ken.”
Eva captioned the post, “Did you know?! @thefallguymovie is the FIRST non super hero movie to open the summer box office in 17 years!”
“And maybe it didn’t break the box office but it broke sooo many other records,” she added.
The Other Guys star continued, “I’m extra proud of this one. The proof is in my post-I don’t usually post pics of my man kissing a babe but Emily Blunt is just that damn good in it.
“THEY’RE that damn good in it.”
She then signed off, “Viva el fall guy!”
In the comment section, one fan responded, “It was hilarious, loved it and laughed a lot. Those two were great together and both have great chemistry on screen and off…on anything.
“I didn’t think I can fall more in love with Ryan but I did. Bravo.”
Eva hilariously and somewhat begrudgingly replied, “Ok ok yea yea they have amazing chemistry.
“I wish I could say it’s all an act but it’s not -Colt is in love with her and so am I! Emily is the F best. I’m smitten! Believe the hype – She’s that amazing!” she added.
“I freaking love how beautiful you are inside! To be able to recognize another woman’s awesomeness is just beyond cool,” another fan commented.
A thired commenter remarked, “I love movies about movies and this is a fun one! The split-screen phone conversation was my favorite.”
“That’s my favorite scene in it too!!! Classic,” Eva answered.
BACK TOGETHER
Last week, Eva teased that she and Ryan plan to reunite in a new film in the not-so-distant future.
The actress took a step back from acting to focus on raising the couple’s two daughters.

Eva hinted that she might return to acting, and it may be with Ryan by her side when she shared side-by-side photos on Instagram.
One showed Ryan dressed as his character Colt Seavers in The Fall Guy and the other of Eva from a recent photoshoot.
They donned the same colored attire, with Ryan dressed head-to-toe in gold, completing his outfit with a cowboy hat and sunglasses.
Eva stunned in a gold, high-waisted skirt that fell to the floor and a long-sleeved button-down top with a plunging neckline, and her brunette locks in loose waves.
EVA’S BIG RETURN
In her post with Ryan, the 2 Fast 2 Furious star joked about their similar ensembles, shouting out the actor’s action film.
“Do you believe in happy endings? Aliana & Space Cowboy together at last. If you know, you know…. @thefallguymovie,” Eva wrote in her caption, ending with a red heart emoji.
I’m extra proud of this one. The proof is in my post – I don’t usually post pics of my man kissing a babe but Emily Blunt is just that damn good in it.”

Fans raced to the comments and begged the pair to appear on screen together again, prompting the Ghost Rider star to tease the possibility.
“How amazing will be seeing you two together for another movie!” one person wrote, to which Eva replied, “Soon!! 🙂 Lotsa amore to you!”
Others were ecstatic by the mom of two’s admission, with one writing, “Yeaaah this answer is what I longed for!”
Another excited fan said, “SOON??!?!! EXCUSE ME,” and a third demanded, “We need announcements ASAP!!!!!!”
Ryan and Eva last appeared together in the 2013 film The Place Beyond the Pines, and they began dating shortly after filming wrapped.
After starring in a string of widely successful productions, Eva took a hiatus from acting in 2014 to prioritize their girls – Esmeralda Amanda, nine, and Amada Lee, eight.
Eva opened up about the move in a recent interview with People, admitting, “It was the easiest decision I’ve ever made.
“I was older and I knew that my kids are going to be little once, and whatever I do or don’t do right now is going to affect them the rest of their life.”
Eva explained that she didn’t feel “pressure” to stay home and care for the girls but “felt it as clarity” to help her make the choice.
“Your career comes and goes but kids, yeah, that was easy for me. They’re just formative years. I wanted to be there for all of it.
“It all matters when you have two little people watching you all day long. It’s frightening but it’s good because it makes me try to be a better person every day,” The Other Guys star added.
