Warren Haynes has tacked on a new live appearance. The Gov’t Mule frontman with Allman Brothers and The Dead acclaim announced a particular concert date at Red Rocks Amphitheatre on September 10. The impending gig is a part of the upcoming Now Is The Time Tour featuring The Warren Haynes Band and The Dreams and Songs Symphonic Experience. Notably, the aforementioned concert will feature accompaniment from the Colorado Symphony, led by conductor Christopher Dragon.
“It’s almost cliche to say Red Rocks is a magical venue, but the truth is…it is,” Haynes reflected via press release. “Having played there dozens of times, I don’t think I’ve ever had a bad show there. So, when picking places to bring my retrospective Symphonic Experience show, the one place I knew we had to play was Red Rocks. This show features material from all the amazing bands I’ve been fortunate enough to be part of over the last 30 years – interpreted by different orchestras around the country in addition to music from my various solo records and new, yet to be released material as well. I’m honored to perform once again with the Colorado Symphony and to unleash my new band, which will perform with and without the symphony.”
The late-summer experience is billed to feature a new all-star lineup for the Warren Haynes Band, featuring longtime friend John Medeski (keys), Gov’t Mule bassist Kevin Scott (bass), veteran member Terence Higgins (drums), and Greg Osby (sax). The cited mention of culled material that touches on Haynes’ history alludes to the inclusion of borrowed covers from Gov’t Mule, Allman Brothers Band, The Dead, Jerry Garcia, solo albums, such as the Grammy-nominated Man In Motion, and never-before-heard arrangements, except Garcia numbers which will find Haynes one-again revisiting compositions from his Jerry Garcia Symphonic Celebration.
