Tanishaa Mukerji is flashing her abs – during a Pilates workout. In a new social media post the actress flaunts her flat midsection while on the reformer, wearing a yellow crop top and matching leggings. “Work that core! Work multiple muscle groups with combined movements! Keep it interesting 😍 #pilatesgirl #workout #workoutmotivation,” she captioned the Instagram Reel. How does she approach diet, fitness, and self-care? Here is everything you need to know about her lifestyle habits.
Most stars drink warm water with lemon, but Tanishaa sticks to lime. “I am a morning person. I love waking up early and starting my day on a fresh note. The first thing that I have after waking up is a glass of warm water with lime. It pushes the toxins out from my body and keeps me hydrated,” she told IDiva.
Tanishaa gets her zen on daily. “I spend some time doing yoga before starting with the day’s routine,” she said. “I also do yoga when I am travelling, as it becomes difficult to hit the gym.” There is a laundry list of reasons to do yoga, explains Harvard Health. “Researchers found that people who practiced yoga for at least 30 minutes once a week for at least four years, gained less weight during middle adulthood,” they said. “People who were overweight actually lost weight. Overall, those who practiced yoga had lower body mass indexes (BMIs) compared with those who did not practice yoga. Researchers attributed this to mindfulness. Mindful eating can lead to a more positive relationship with food and eating.”.
Cardio is part of Tanishaa’s daily routine. “I also briskly walk, jog and cycle,” she says. Going for a daily walk can be a game changer in terms of exercise, especially at a brisk speed. One study published in JAMA Internal Medicine found that walking at a brisk pace for about 30 minutes a day led to a reduced risk of heart disease, cancer, dementia and death, compared with walking a similar number of steps but at a slower pace.
“So, my exercise routine varies and I like to keep it that way. The change keeps me excited about working out and doesn’t let boredom set in,” she told the publication. “I truly believe that fitness should be a part of your life, just like prayer. To be truly happy one needs to be healthy from inside out and that is only possible once you make some changes in the way you live.”
“I stay away from all fad diets. I believe in eating everything I like, but in moderation. I also think that everything you eat needs to be worked off with the right amount of exercise. So I try and eat healthy and stay away from fried, fatty and processed foods,” she says about her diet. “My breakfast consists of two egg whites along with a slice of brown bread and a cup of green tea or coffee. For lunch, I prefer a proper meal of yellow dal, green vegetables such as French beans, bhindi or peas along with a bowl of curd and two rotis. Sometimes I also have a bowl of vegetable salad. This keeps me full till the evening. Then, if I am hungry, I snack on some dry fruits or nuts. If I am working out, I have a protein shake. I prefer to eat a light dinner, which usually consists of grilled fish or chicken with some veggies on the side. Chocolate is my weakness and my cheat days are all about chocolate in any form! I also love sev puri and literally crave this street food. So, on cheat days this is totally on the menu!”
“I do an intense one-hour workout every day. I alternate between cardio, weight training and Pilates,” she revealed. “I also enjoy doing Pilates with my trainer Namrata Purohit. It’s one exercise which keeps me motivated to stay fit and strong.” Why is pilates a good workout? According to the Mayo Clinic there are lots of benefits to the workout, as it “strengthens the body’s inner core while increasing its flexibility resulting in improved overall health.” It can also promote longer, leaner muscles, injury prevention, relief from stress and back pain, enhanced athletic performance, and heightened mind-body awareness.
