KATY Perry has stunned in a new video taken on the American Idol set but fans can’t stop talking about what she carried in her purse.
On Tuesday, the Wide Awake singer posted the outfit reveal video on her Instagram account.
In the video, Katy, 39, was shown singing to Sabrina Carpenter‘s Espresso while approaching the American Idol set on a film studio lot.
The Teenage Dream singer sported a casual look consisting of a white button-up over a matching white tank top paired with denim jeans.
She completed the workday outfit with black sunglasses and a pair of black flats while wearing her hair pulled back into an unassuming bun.
Katy carried an iced coffee in one hand and held her purse and doggy bag – which secured her micro teacup poodle Nugget – with the other.
She briefly posed in front of an American Idol billboard before the video transitioned and captured Katy stepping out of her wardrobe trailer wearing a breathtaking maroon gown.
The dress featured a leather corset that perfectly matched her leather, elbow-length gloves.
The lower portion, while the same color, was made from a lighter fabric and was designed with a high slit to show off the singer’s legs.
While Nugget was nowhere to be seen, Katy still had a coffee in hand as she walked down the steps and showed off her side-swept hairdo.
The Idol judge captioned the post, “I’m a singerrrr (and a mother, and a judge, and a…) #ESPRESSO @sabrinacarpenter #idol.”
In the post’s comment section, one fan wrote, “OMG! Now that I’ve noticed Nugget in your bag!”
“The puppy on her bag,” commented a second.
A third person exclaimed, “NUGGET HAHAHAHA.”
A fourth fan referenced Katy’s outfit change as they wrote, “From Audrey Hepburn to Jessica Rabbit.”
“She does it all,” added another.
FAN APPRECIATION
Katy received a ton of love from fans after she admitted to being annoying on the set of American Idol.
On Sunday, Katy shared a behind-the-scenes video from the singing competition on Instagram.
In the clip, she sat behind the judge’s table while the show was on a break.
Her song California Girls was playing over the sound system and the audience could be heard singing along.
The person filming the video asked Katy if she knew the song that was playing prompting the Billboard Music Award winner to pull her hair away from her ear to listen closely.
The American Idol judge appeared confused as she continued to listen to the song before shaking her head ‘no’ to the beat of the music.
She then leaned into the camera and joked, “It’s by that really annoying girl, right?”
Fans of the singer obsessed over Katy’s joke in the post’s comment section.
One person said, “I love how your mouth moved to it wanting to sing.”
“She’s an actress give her a golden globe right now,” added fan another.
A third commenter added, “She’s so funny for this,” with a crying emoji.
GETTING PHYSICAL
Katy sits on the judging panel with Luke Bryan, 47, and Lionel Richie, 74.
She took a swing at Luke after he spoke highly of a contestant’s rendition of one of the pop star’s greatest hits.
On Monday night, two contestants said goodbye to Idol as America voted for their favorites to make it to the Top 10.
This season’s contestants chose a Billboard #1 Hit to perform and Roman Collins decided to sing Katy’s song, Roar.
Roman is a 24-year-old worship leader from Long Beach, California.
During his time with music mentor of the night, Meghan Trainor, Roman revealed that he chose the pop song because of the message.
“The words are vital,” he explained in a confessional, “I’m slowing it down and I’m playing it myself.”
Back in the room with Meghan, he continued, “This song is so important to me. [We’re] not paying attention to the drums or the rhythm, just the words cause they’re enough.”
When it came time for him to perform, he started by playing the piano and singing the hit song in his own way.
Minutes later, he projected his voice to fill the room and walked around the stage, blowing away the viewers at home, the audience, and the judges Katy, Luke, and Lionel.
JUDGES REACTIONS
After he finished, he got a standing ovation from the judges and even got a hug from the Roar singer.
“That was a Katy Perry song that was so full of church, soul, and power. Your roaring was amazing,” Lionel said.
Katy revealed that her parents are a big fan of Roman, “They text me about you and they’re like ‘Roman! Yes! Praise Jesus!’
“So my parents who have prayed for me all my life and I would credit a lot of my success to them, they’re praying for you too! That was amazing,” she said.
Katy also teased her potential return to music, “I hope you don’t mind if I try that version out on the next tour.”
Luke jokingly responded, “Good Luck,” which resulted in Katy pretending to hit Luke as he flinched away from her slap.
