TAYLOR Swift will draw with Madonna to have the most chart-topping records by a female act in the UK when she shoots to No1 this Friday.
The superstar’s 11th album The Tortured Poets Department is now guaranteed to top the charts as it is already the fastest-selling album of 2024 after three days on sale.
It was released on Friday and has shifted 183,826 copies in the UK alone – out-selling the rest of the Top 40 combined.
It means she has superseded Beyonce’s Cowboy Carter which was the year’s previous fastest-selling album with sales of 40,000.
Figures from the Official Charts show she is also currently occupying No1, No2 and No3 on the singles charts, with Fortnight featuring rapper Post Malone, title track The Tortured Poets Department and So Long London.
Taylor, 34, has so far scored 11 No1 albums, largely thanks to the success of her re-recorded records, dubbed Taylor’s Version, after the rights to her back catalogue were bought without her permission.
Only The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Robbie Williams and Elvis Presley have achieved more chart-topping albums.
On Friday, she will surpass David Bowie, U2 and Sir Rod Stewart, who have achieved 11 each.
It comes 18 months after the Anti-Hero singer scored the biggest opening week of her career when her album Midnights racked up 204,000 UK chart sales in seven days.
But her latest project looks set to beat that, ahead of her Eras Tour in the UK this summer.
On Friday, Taylor broke the record for the biggest single-day streams for an album on Spotify, which she previously set with Midnights.
It is an even bigger success in the US, where the new record sold 1.4million copies on Friday alone, to instantly become the best-selling album of the year.
