KEVIN Bacon shocked onlookers as he returned to the school he filmed in during Footloose 40 years later.
The 65-year-old movie star took a trip down memory lane to Payson High School in Utah just hours before their prom night.
Kevin walked around the campus and reminisced on his time on set before he took to stage on the football field and addressed an audience.
“It’s been a long time – 40 years – that just blows my mind, you know. Things look a little different around here. I’d say the thing that looks the most different is me,” he spoke into a microphone.
The school is set to be relocated to another campus in the fall, but the students didn’t want to leave before letting Kevin know.
The students campaigned to get Kevin back to hand him an honorary diploma and give a final tour of the high school which featured heavily in the movie.
Fans decided to take it one step further and use Kevin’s return as an opportunity to raise funds for the charity he founded, Six Degrees.
The organization helps connect people and give resources to homeless and those in need.
The students held a fundraiser and managed to assemble 5,000 kits to hand out before Kevin visited them.
According to Kevin’s chairty, they pulled together over $865,000 worth of product distribution, totaling 121,900 items.
The kits included hygiene products, water bottles, socks, journals and other essential items.
“When I first heard about this #BaconToPayson thing, I was like ‘Wow, this is crazy.’ But you were all just tireless, unrelenting in your desire to have me return. And you talked me into it!” Bacon told the crowd on the football field during a video.
“I think it’s great to see that kind of commitment to anything,” he continued.
“I also think that it’s amazing the power that this movie has had to just kind of bring people together, and connect on the basic ideas there are behind the movie,
“You know, standing up to authority sometimes, and to being forgiving to people who are not exactly the same as you, and for standing up for your own freedoms and your right to express yourself, and for having compassion for other people,” he said.
“And that’s what all of you have shown here, by turning what could be just a movie star coming back to get a pat on the back, into something really positive.
“And that’s what we’re going to do today when we build these kits. So thank you, thank you so much,” he told audiences.
“And thank you so much especially for your commitment to giving back to your community and to the people you’re sharing this planet with, and I’m thrilled that we’re going to be working here together today,” he concluded.
MEMORY LANE
Another TikTok video showed Kevin walking around and seeing the original locker used in the movie.
He looked very excited and pointed towards his hononary diploma given to him for his “timeless performance and forever inspiration left at Payson High School.”
Kevin remarked that he had never seen his name on a high school diploma before.
Kevin’s appearance came after Ariel Moore, who starred alongside the star in the musical, stunned with her ageless looks.
The star looked incredible as a guest speaker chatting to presenters Belinda Russell and David Campbell on Today Extra in Australia.
The actress was on the show to chat about the popular eighties blockbuster which celebrated it’s release 40 years ago.
Lori looked incredible in a short sleeved back top and styled her blonde locks into loose waves.
David called Lori “timeless”.
“It maybe feels like four weeks to me! It feels like yesterday,” Lori commented about her movie experience.
“It was very intense, it was an outstanding character, especially for that time, because it was about a young woman who really is coming onto her own and figuring out how to break free of small town repression and repression of her father.
“She really takes the place by storm!”
