Una Healy in Workout Gear Says "I Feel a Lot Better Now"

Una Healy is getting real in the gym in her workout clothes. In a new social media post The Saturdays musician opens up about her body changes. “I’ve gained a few kg these past few months…I’ve been keeping fit and healthy and lifting heavier…I feel a lot better now,” she captioned the Instagram Stories image. How has the singer transformed her body with diet and fitness? Here is everything you need to know about her lifestyle habits.

Una told RSVP Live that she lifts heavy weights regularly, “five-six times a week,” she said. “I have a little studio at home – it’s my sanctuary – and it’s so important for my physical and mental health.”

“I regard beauty and wellness as a form of self-care, whether it’s drawing a relaxing bath, popping on a hydrating sheet mask or just applying my skincare mindfully. I always feel better after a spot of pampering,” Una added to RSVP Live. What makes baths a great form of self-care? They have been linked to better sleep and even found helpful to minimize anxiety and depression. One recent study even found that they may even boast cardiovascular benefits.

Una also gets her sweat on outside of the gym. “I enjoy keeping fit with long walks and running,” she said. Going for a daily walk can be a game changer in terms of exercise, especially at a brisk speed. One study published in JAMA Internal Medicine found that walking at a brisk pace for about 30 minutes a day led to a reduced risk of heart disease, cancer, dementia and death, compared with walking a similar number of steps but at a slower pace.

Una lives by the motto “you are what you eat,” and takes her diet very seriously. “I nourish my skin from the inside out: I eat a balanced diet with lots of fruit and vegetables, oily fish,” she told RSVP Live.

Una makes sure to hydrate. “I drink six glasses of water a day,” she told RSVP Live. According to the Mayo Clinic, hydration is important for a variety of reasons. Water helps get rid of waste through urination, perspiration, and bowel movements, keeps your temperature normal, lubricates and cushions joints, and helps protect sensitive tissues.

Una  swims. “Earlier this year, I took up cold water swimming. I swim either at the coast or in lakes and have got the bug for it! The first time I did it, I thought, ‘what am I doing? This is horrible. It’s so cold.’ Whereas now it just feels invigorating. When you’re immersed in cold water, your body goes into fight or flight mode and is flooded with cortisol, followed by endorphins,” she told Top Sante
