SPOILER ALERT – Do not continue reading if you don’t want to know what happened during the finale of American Song Contest!
The grand final of the new NBC music competition series American Song Contest aired on Monday (May 9) and the winner has been revealed.
The U.S. version of the international megahit Eurovision featured live original musical performances, representing all 50 states, five U.S. territories and our nation’s capital, competing to win the country’s vote for the Best Original Song.
During the first five weeks, the 56 contestants performed their songs and the competition was narrowed down to the Top 22, who made it to the semi-finals. After two weeks of semi-finals performances, the Top 10 performed during the grand final. One of the finalists couldn’t perform live during the finale because of personal reasons.
Eight of the 56 acts who competed on the show were already famous before appearing in the competition.
At the end of the grand final, the jury’s votes were combined with America’s votes to determine the winner.
