Glass Animals Announce New Album, Share New Single: Stream

English quartet Glass Animals are back to announce their fourth album, I Love You So F***ing Much, and shared the LP’s lead single, “Creatures in Heaven.”

Due out July 19th, I Love You So F***ing Much is Glass Animals’ follow up to 2020’s Dreamland, which gave the band their first #1 hit in the US with “Heat Waves.” The new album, then, was born from the chaos of supporting a record during the pandemic and finding newfound success within the band. Frontman Dave Bayley claims that I Love You So F***ing Much came from an existential crisis: “Life can change dramatically, but sometimes you aren’t able to change as quickly on a personal level,” Bayley writes in a statement. “You end up feeling like a spectator. And then you are asked and expected to be a certain type of person, a different person. But… I wasn’t sure how. It confused me to the point of not knowing who I was or if anything was real.”

Bayley also elaborated on the album’s title, saying, “I love you so f***ing much, I LOVE YOU SO F***ING MUCH, I love you SO f***ing MUCH, I love you so F***ING much, I LOVE you so f***ing MUCH. These words take on a different meaning every time you say them. The universe may make us feel overwhelmingly small, but we have this human connection that is far vaster and more mysterious. Love comes in an infinite number of forms and shapes and sizes. It is so complex, and so powerful that even witnessing the tiniest instance of it can change your life forever.”

“Creatures in Heaven,” the band’s first offering from I Love You So F***ing Muchseems to pick up where Dreamland left off. Bayley cycles through some Glass Animals motifs now common in their discography: late night yearning, nostalgic longing for the past, and sticky, anthemic hooks. Rather than lean solely on a more modernized pop sound, however, the band launches into a guitar-driven chorus, with distorted strums from Drew MacFarlane and a skittering drum beat from Joe Seaward. Glass Animals have yet to announce a new tour in support of I Love You So F***ing Muchbut they are set to play Pappy & Harriets in Pioneertown, California ahead of Coachella Weekend 1 and Tabqueros in Mexico City shortly after.
