Jessica Pettway was a beauty YouTuber born on January 3, 1987, in Los Angeles, California.
Jessica was widely recognized for her YouTube channel which garnered over 228,000 subscribers.
Prior to her passing, Jessica regularly posted beauty tutorials and shopping haul content since starting her page in November 2013.
The California native also had a strong Instagram following with over 149,000 followers.
Due to her career as an influencer, Jessica has been showcased in various publications including Essence and Curls Understood.
What was her cause of death?
Jessica Pettway passed away at 36 years old on March 11, 2024, after a battle with stage 3 cervical cancer.
Her sister Reyni Brown shared the news in an Instagram post saying: “It’s my birthday today, and the only thing I could ever wish for is for God to bring you back on this earth.
“I lost my beautiful big sister 2 days ago and my heart has never felt pain like this.”
Reyni called Jessica “the most amazing, strong, confident” woman. She also credited Jessica for helping her “become a better mother.”
Jessica shared that she was incorrectly diagnosed and treated for fibroids in July 2022 before doctors correctly diagnosed her with cancer in February 2023.
“Being told I have cancer didn’t devastate me. It was the reaction of those close to me,” her post read.
“I knew that God is my healer and that no weapon formed against me, not even cancer, would prosper. I knew that I am more than a conqueror and that I will get through this.”

Jessica Pettway had two daughters, Kailee and Zoi Lee, with her longtime husband, Michael.
She and Michael began dating when they were teenagers after meeting at a mall in 2006. The couple eventually tied the knot on April 8, 2011.
Jessica shared a sweet post of their enduring love for their 16th anniversary of being together in January 2022.
“‘Young love doesn’t last, so don’t get your hopes up.’ Someone literally told me this about our relationship,” she wrote.
“Yet here we are 16 years after that statement was made. Thankfully, we chose to listen to those who encouraged our love, versus those who could only see their own failed relationships.
