Jay Cutler and Kristin Cavallari announced the news of their divorce in 2020, and it was devastating to many of their fans.
Fans were invested in the couple after watching their reality TV show, “Very Cavallari,” and were surprised to find out that they had decided to end their relationship.
However, over the next several months, the estranged couple appeared to have found common ground and a way to come together to co-parent their three kids.
Since then, the “Very Cavallari” alum has been pretty quiet about her divorce and the aftermath until recently.
Read on to get the details of the revelation.
Kristin Cavallari Said ‘It’s A Closed Chapter’
During her appearance on “The Bellas Podcast,” Cavallari shot down any speculations that she and Cutler might reunite in the future, adding that she seemed to be in a good place following the split from her ex-husband.
“Through my divorce, I have done a lot of reflecting and I’ve really looked inward,” the 35-year-old actress said. “I feel like I’ve grown up the most than I have in the last two years, because I’ve essentially been on my own.”
She continued via People, “The first year I dated, I was having fun. I was like, you know, getting back out there and then really for the last year I haven’t dated. I mean, I’ve gone on a couple of dates, but like nothing major. And I have really just focused on myself and made sure that I worked through everything with my ex and really closed that chapter.”
However, this didn’t mean she didn’t give things another shot following their breakup. During an interview with “Off The Vine with Kaitlyn Bristowe,” she confessed to going on a couple of dates with her ex-husband following the split, but the magic they previously had was gone.
She claimed that “he wasn’t it” anymore, and going back to him reaffirmed the claim.
She added that she didn’t see the reason for jumping from one relationship to the other, stating that she’s only interested in reaching a healthy state after the split.
“I also think just being really comfortable in your own skin and knowing who you are is really important entering a relationship. So, it was important to me to just really get in touch with myself again and figure out who the hell I am now.”
Divorcing Cutler Was One Of The Hardest Decision Cavallari Could Ever Make
After announcing her divorce in 2020, she admitted that it was one of the hardest decisions she ever had to make. She also explained that their relationship challenges didn’t start in one day, claiming they had “tried for many years” to forestall the divorce.
She also spoke about walking away from her reality TV and keeping her marital woes off the big screen.
“We definitely kept a lot of stuff private,” the reality star said. “Producers saw stuff, but they did not put it in the show — which is good, because I don’t want my kids to ever [see that].”
She felt relief because she knew she didn’t have to talk about anything if she didn’t want to. Most specifically, she owed her kids their privacy.
“What’s best for them? Probably not doing a reality show, having to talk about divorcing their dad,” she concluded.
However, in retrospect, she was glad that she decided to split, stating that her world was better for it, and she felt the best she’s ever felt in a while. “I’m really excited about the future all around.”
The Pair Are Co-Parents To Their Three Children
The “Uncommon James” founder revealed that they are both co-parents to their children and have found the adjustment “pretty smooth.”
She added that she wasn’t going to plan anything out but rather “let life happen.” This decision has caused her to be more “at peace.”
“I’m not stressed out. I’m not worrying about anything,” she told Us Weekly. “I’ve just been able to take a breath. It feels like, for the first time, I’ve been able to just come up for air,” she concluded.
Cavallari Is Ready For Another Relationship
While having an Instagram Q&A with fans earlier this month, the reality star revealed that she was open to entering another relationship.
She admitted to having worked through “some heavy stuff” in the past two years. She also added that she had gone on casual dates, but right now, she’s in a place where she’s ready for a relationship.
“When you are able to finally fully close a chapter, it’s amazing what you will start to attract,” she concluded.
