KANYE West has aired out all of the inner workings of his brand partnership with the athletic brand Adidas.
Kanye took time out of his day on Monday to shame Adidas for creating new products under his brand, Yeezy, without the rapper’s input.
The Good Life rapper, 46, sat comfortably in what appeared to be a hotel lobby as he filmed himself slamming the apparel company.
“Not only are [Adidas] putting out fake [Yeezys] that are nonapproved, [Adidas] is suing me for 250 million dollars,” Kanye said in his selfie video.
His expensive titanium grills, which are priced at $850k, shined through his lips as he spoke, pairing nicely with the chic black windbreaker he sported.
The Grammy-winning artist added that Adidas was also “not paying” him for the upcoming Yeezy shoes that are about to be released despite Kanye’s name “being on them.”
In the post’s caption, the dad-of-four reinforced his point.
“Adidas is selling fake Yeezys and not paying me and suing me at the same time,” Kanye wrote.
His supporters were in an uproar in the comment section of his video, revealing that they were prepared to stick by him through his battle with Adidas.
“F****k Adidas. We were only wearing Adidas because of you,” one person defended.
“Boycott Adidas!” another raged.
Many fans divulged that they would be up to boycotting Adidas on behalf of Kanye to show their allegiance to him.
“It’s over for them; we boycotting them,” one user insisted, as a commenter added, “I ain’t buying s**t from Adidas ever again.”
“I’m never thinking of buying Adidas again Ye,” someone else shared.
KANYE VS. ADIDAS
Kanye has been feuding with Adidas for a couple of years now.
On September 1, 2022, Kanye shaded former Adidas CEO Kasper Rørsted.
On Instagram, the rapper-turned-fashion designer posted a mock New York Times headline, “Kasper Rørsted Also Dead at 60.”
Kanye went on to air his grievances with the company and told his followers about his lack of control in their partnership.
Regarding his growing discontent with Adidas, the Yeezy creator told CNBC’s Closing Bell: “Any of these relationships that I am in, I have to have a say so.
“They were slowing down my allotments and copying my ideas. They were supposed to do stores and they never did stores, but this company grew 85 percent last year.”
Following Kanye’s controversies surrounding his anti-Semitic comments and support for white lives matter, Adidas revealed they were reviewing the terms of their business pairing.
On October 6, 2022, the company stated, “After repeated efforts to privately resolve the situation, we have taken the decision to place the partnership under review.
“We will continue to co-manage the current product during this period.”
Weeks later, on October 25, 2022, Adidas terminated its business dealings with Kanye.
