The possibility of Prince Harry returning to royal duties while his father, King Charles III, is undertaking treatments for his cancer diagnosis is minimal.
It was previously revealed that Harry might be open to returning to take on “temporary” royal duties, although no offers were reported to have been made.
The Duke recently noted that his father’s illness could help reunite the family and that he plans to make more visits to the U.K. after a recent stop to see the monarch.
Prince Harry Won’t Be Coming Back To The Royal Family In Any Capacity
According to reports, there is “zero chance” of Harry taking up royal duties again while his father is currently away for health reasons.
The Duke of Sussex previously stepped down from his royal role in 2020 with his wife Meghan Markle and subsequently moved to California, U.S.A. His decision led to a tense relationship with the royal firm, further worsened by the revelations in his bombshell series “Harry & Meghan” and his memoir Spare.
Now, with Charles being sick, it is believed that this is not enough reason for Harry to be let back into the fold, despite the Invictus Game founder seemingly making moves to reconcile in recent months. Insiders close to the royal firm also claimed that Harry’s brother, Prince William, would block any such moves as he does not trust his brother.
Per the Daily Mail, a source said, “It is absolutely and categorically clear that he (William) would not allow Harry to return. There is a zero percent chance Harry is coming back in any capacity.”
Prince Harry Said His Father’s Illness Could Reunite The Royal Family
The recent reports seem to shut down Harry’s claim that his father’s illness will lead to the family reuniting and ending their long-running feud.
In an interview with “Good Morning America,” the father of two made the claims after being asked about the possibility by his host.
“Absolutely. Yeah, I’m sure,” the 39-year-old stated. “Throughout all these [Invictus Games] families, I see it on a day-to-day basis the strength of the family unit coming together. I think any illness, any sickness brings families together.”
During the interview, Prince Harry also proclaimed his “love” for his family despite their tense relationship in recent years. He also said that he was “grateful” for being able to visit his father after the diagnosis and that he plans to make more visits as much as he can.
The Duke And His Wife Were Criticized For Launching A New Royal Website
Amid the media attention from Charles’ diagnosis, Prince Harry has been criticized for launching a new website with his wife, Meghan Markle.
Reports have claimed that sources close to the royal firm believe it goes against the promises Harry and Meghan gave the late Queen Elizabeth II when they stepped down from their senior royal roles in 2020.
Some experts have also slammed the timing of the launch, as it came within a short span after Charles’ cancer diagnosis, per
“The question is not whether it is their right to launch a new website Sussexes.com with their coat of arms and using their royal titles, but the extraordinary timing,” said royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams while emphasizing the monarch’s illness.
He added, “As members of the Royal Family, having stepped down from royal duties, it would surely be more sensitive and more sensible to leave their rebrand until later in the year.”
All About Prince Harry & Meghan Markle’s New Website, Sussex.com
Sussex.com was launched quietly on Monday by Harry and Meghan, replacing the couple’s prior Sussexroyal.com. The website contains current information about them and their activities, including personal and official updates.
A visit to Sussex.com brings up a homepage that features a picture of the Duke and Duchess at the 2023 Invictus Games in Germany in its background, which the duo also used for their last year’s holiday card. There was also a text on the homepage that read: “The office of Prince Harry & Meghan, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.”
As part of its content, the website contains links to learn more about Harry and Meghan and redirects to their Archewell Foundation organization and Archewell Productions hub.
Days after the website launch, Meghan came out to praise the “talented team” behind its creation, describing them as a “very special company” with a “thoughtful approach to design.”
