Over five years after the tragic death of Avicii, a new remix produced by the dance music icon has hit streaming platforms.
Chart-topping country outfit Zac Brown Band today released Avicii’s haunting rework of “Beautiful Drug,” a track from the group’s 2015 album Jekyll + Hyde. The new remix is Avicii’s first posthumous release in nearly five years after a cohort of producers and songwriters joined forces in 2019 to develop his final studio album, Tim.
“This has been in the vault for a long time,” Brown said in a video shared across the band’s social media. “Before Avicii’s passing, he and I worked together on a song called ‘Broken Arrows.’ And in return, he promised to do a remix on one of my songs.”

Elsewhere in the Avicii lore, Academy Award-winning film producer Lawrence Bender is currently developing a new documentary about the legendary DJ. The project, which Bender called “eye-opening,” will feature interviews with Avicii’s family and friends as well as “previously unreleased footage” recorded around the time of his discovery and rise to fame.
“Avicii changed the music industry,” said Orlando John, Bender’s producing partner, at the time of the film’s reveal in June 2023. “People think they know the story, but they have really no clue as to what actually happened. I feel a profound responsibility to ensure that it’s told accurately and objectively. This documentary will give the audiences a deeper understanding of the brand that left an indelible mark on music and culture.”
The documentary’s producers have not announced a release date at the time of writing. In the meantime, you can find Avicii’s remix of “Beautiful Drug” for playlisting on streaming platforms here.
