Tool guitarist Adam Jones and Epiphone have unveiled their latest collab: the 1979 Les Paul Custom Silverburst signature model.
The signature model replicates one of Jones’ “top favorite guitars of all-time” and one that Tool fans will surely recognize.
Adorned with its vivid Antique Silverburst finish, the axe has a three-piece maple neck with a custom Adam Jones profile, an ebony fretboard, and a mahogany body with a maple cap. The headstock has a Gibson “open book” profile and artwork created by Joyce Su and Adam Jones on the rear.
Electronically, it features a Gibson Custombucker pickup in the neck position and a Seymour Duncan Distortion in the bridge position — giving you the clean/dirty tones necessary to play Tool songs — along with CTS potentiometers and Orange Drop capacitors. Like his previous Gibson/Epiphone signature models, Jones was “heavily involved” in the creation of the guitar, per Epiphone’s press release.
The Adam Jones 1979 Les Paul Custom Silverburst retails for $1,499 and comes with a replica two-inch convex mirror and a Deluxe Protector Series hardshell case. The guitar is can be purchased via Epiphone.
Meanwhile, there’s a good chance you’ll catch Jones playing his prized original Gibson Silverburst 1979 Gibson Les Paul on Tool’s ongoing tour. There are still a handful of shows remaining on the US run, and you can get tickets here.
