AC/DC are teasing a major announcement for Monday, February 12th. Fans are speculating that the news could be the legendary rock band’s first run of tour dates in eight years.
The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame act has posted video teasers on its social media sites, with the words “Are You Ready” and audio of the song by the same name from the 1990 album The Razors Edge.
A clip on Wednesday (February 7th) included the number “5,” implying the announcement was coming in five days. And a countdown clock on the band’s official website is scheduled to end at 3 a.m. ET on Monday.
AC/DC performed their first show in seven years at the Power Trip festival in Indio, California, back in October. However, that was a one-off performance. They haven’t embarked on a proper tour since 2016.
The Power Trip gig featured singer Brian Johnson, lead guitarist Angus Young, rhythm guitarist Stevie Young, bassist Cliff Williams, and drummer Matt Laug. While classic drummer Phil Rudd returned for the band’s 2020 album, Power Up, he did not play with the band at Power Trip.
It is unclear if Rudd will join AC/DC on any potential upcoming tour dates. Meanwhile, recent rumors suggest that Williams may not tour with the band, having retired from the road after the 2016 outing.
That last tour in 2016 featured Axl Rose taking over vocals from Brian Johnson, who had to step away from the band due to hearing issues. He has since been fitted with a device that enables him to perform onstage again.
See AC/DC’s recent video teasers below, and stay tuned Monday for the big announcement.
