Louise Thompson is a TV personality from the UK. She is best known for being a cast member on the reality series, Made In Chelsea. Thompson recently took a trip to Antigua and Barbuda, and shared some highlights on Instagram. In them, she lounged on the beach, spent time with her kid, and enjoyed a meal. She captioned the post, “Playing catch up: a rare moment looking rather refined in a happy hat before the wheels fall off… as they always do.” How does she stay so fit? Read on to see 5 ways Louise Thompson stays in shape and the photos that prove they work.
Thompson shared some of her fitness secrets in an interview with Cosmopolitan. She says that she does a lot of at-home workouts, because of her busy schedule. “I tend to do some form of exercise every day. I generally split my time between the gym and home workouts. Because I am incredibly busy at the moment with filming and other work, I like to take advantage of a good home workout routine. I use my bedroom floor and do ab exercises using my Myprotein ab roller and also knee tucks with the yoga ball. There are loads of simple yet effective exercises that you can do with the exercise ball including crunches. They are good because they work the full body whilst trying to keep balance.”
For Thompson, fitness means variety. She shared some of her favorites in her Cosmopolitan interview. “I tend to stick to mostly weight training exercises instead of cardio. However, I sometimes like to mix things up with the occasional boxing or pilates class.” UHospitals.org states that variety is important with fitness. “Exercise variation is an important factor when designing an exercise program, with many benefits when you change exercises every so often, such as increased performance and decreased injury risk. However, it is important to apply variation correctly to maximize results.”
Thompson is a big fan of weight training. “I love strength training because it’s really slow, it’s basically a lazy person’s workout and I’m quite lazy,” she told Cosmopolitan. “I like to take my time in between sets and load up on weights.” In the same interview, she said that you don’t need to buy weights to do these exercises. “We encourage people to use household items, a pint of milk as a kettlebell, wine bottles as dumbbells. You can also load up a backpack with some weights or books, put that on your chest and do a front squat, which is a good challenge.”
In her Cosmopolitan interview, Thompson shared how she stays motivated to workout. “There’s no one simple solution to keeping motivated,” she says. “If there was, then everyone would be so ripped or share it! For me, I have to make exercising feel as attractive as possible and I schedule my workouts for first thing in the morning, so that I don’t have any time to talk myself out of it.”
Thompson tells Cosmopolitan that she uses guided workouts on her phone. “If I go in without a plan, I’ll just meander around and waste time. Having a plan on my phone is crucial, but constantly checking it between ab crunches and reverse crunches isn’t that efficient, so I’m excited for this new way of training.”
