Jamie Foxx has reacted to the multiple nominations he received at the 55th NAACP Image Awards. The Oscar-award-winning actor received three nominations in three separate award categories.
While acknowledging his NAACP nods, Foxx alluded to the health scare he suffered last April, noting that he is “thankful” about getting a “second chance” at life.
He recently returned to acting for the first time in nine months, as he was seen on the set of “Back in Action.”
Jamie Foxx Is Grateful For NAACP Nominations
The multi-talented actor and musician recently took to his official Instagram account to express gratitude following his nominations at the 55th NAACP Image Awards.
The NAACP Image Awards, which celebrates the achievements of people of color in the arts and entertainment industry, recognized Foxx’s outstanding contributions with nominations in three separate categories: Outstanding Actor in a Motion Picture for “The Burial,” Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Motion Picture for “They Cloned Tyrone,” and Outstanding Independent Motion Picture for “Story Ave.”
“Super thankful to the @naacpimageawards for these nominations,” Foxx said in response to the nominations. “I cannot tell you how great it feels to be recognized by our own … and big thanks to @datariturner your vision and your relentlessness to get all of our projects done at the top of expertise and execution has been something to marvel.”
“You have put Foxxhole productions on the map, and we continue to keep making incredible artistic strides!!!” he added.
Jamie Foxx Is Also Grateful For A ‘Second Chance’ At Life
The “Day Shift” actor went on to note how grateful he is for a “second chance” at life following his mysterious health scare that sidelined him for months.
“And on a personal note, I am humbled and thankful to God that I get a second chance to enjoy and appreciate life …,” he added, tagging his sister, Deidra Dixon, and daughter, Corinne Foxx.
Details about the nature of his hospitalization have been kept private. However, during his acceptance speech for his Critic Choice Vanguard Award, Foxx noted that he “couldn’t actually walk” and that he “wouldn’t wish what I went through on my worst enemy because it’s tough.”
“I have a new respect for life. I have a new respect for my art. I watched so many movies and listened to so many songs, trying to have the time go by. Don’t give up on your art, man, don’t give up,” he added.
The Actor Returned To The Set Of ‘Back In Action’
Foxx recently returned to the set of “Back In Action,” marking his first appearance since the ordeal, and was joined by his co-star Cameron Diaz. The actor was seen filming the movie days before the near-death health scare last April, as work on it was paused.
Foxx resumed production on the highly anticipated action-comedy film in a casual appearance. He wore a long-sleeved, black sweater and completed his casual look with white sneakers.
Diaz also kept it casual in a pair of fitted black pants and a plain white shirt worn over with a tan-colored cardigan. She left her blonde locks flowing freely and paired her outfit with white sneakers.
Photos obtained by a news outlet showed the pair walking side-by-side each other as they made their way down a sidewalk.
Jamie Foxx Is ‘Doing So Well’
According to People magazine, Foxx’s health crisis is seemingly a thing of the past as the Award-winning actor slowly returns to the public eye. Following his resumption on the set of “Back in Action” and his recent sighting with Diaz, a source told the news outlet that the actor is feeling “fantastic.”
“Jamie is indeed back on set and shooting through February,” the insider said of Foxx’s schedule. “He looks and feels fantastic.”
“They tried to finish the movie with a stunt double but it didn’t come out right so Jamie is going to do all of the parts now,” the source added. “He is doing so well.”
Another source said that Foxx was enthusiastic about seeing the movie through. “For Jamie, the show must go on and he has always been eager to see this project completed,” the insider told the news outlet. “Jamie is super talented and loves his work. He will finish this film.”
