Joy Behar recently claimed she was offered a role on Ted Lasso, a role which went to Becky Ann Baker who was later nominated for an Emmy for the performance.
If The View co-host was in fact offered the role of Ted’s mom Dottie Lasso then it was news to everyone on the show including the co-creators, writers, and stars.
Joy Behar made the Ted Lasso claim during an episode of the Behind the Table podcast with Brian Teta who kicked the conversation off by saying “You were contacted about the possibility to be on my favorite show of all time.” He added “You were dismissive of it because it would require you to spend your hiatus in London.”
Joy Behar seemed to recall details of the offer. Saying “It was too hot, you remember? There was a heat wave going on at that time, like 100-degree weather, and I’d have to get on a plane and go in the middle of the heat? No.” Behar added “Listen, I’m a writer, I write my own stuff, I don’t care about other people’s stuff. I don’t need to be in everything.”
Speaking Thursday at the PEOPLE X IHG ‘Ted Lasso’ event, Jason Sudeikis and Brendan Hunt shut down the Joy Behar x Ted Lasso talk.
When Jason Sudeikis was asked about it, he said “I, no. Joy Behar from The View?” Brendan Hunt quickly chimed in with “Respectfully, it would be news to us. We just work there.”
It’s unclear how The View co-host, Joy Behar, could have possible been offered a role on Ted Lasso with co-creator Brendan Hunt or writer/star Jason Sudeikis hearing about it. All signs indicate that the offere never happened.
Apropos of nothing, here is Jason Sudeikis and Will Forte singing ‘Falling Slowly.’
Every time I see them together I miss The Last Man on Earth. It was canceled way too soon.
