A WOMAN has spoken out about doing a job no one wants and revealed the question she is constantly asked.
In a recent TikTok post from Dennis_Eagle, we meet Julie and the Newport City Council bin team.
The TikTok briefly shows their daily routine and what it’s like to work on bin days in Newport.
In the video, Julie admits that some people still find it strange when they see her collecting their bins.
She said: “Don’t get me wrong.
“I’ve seen loads of people when I put their bin backs say, ‘Oh it’s not very often you see a woman on the bins.'”
“I was like, I know but there is a first time for everything.”
Julie added: “And I said a woman can do a man’s job.
“It’s not just a man’s job.”
Julie wants more women collecting bins or doing jobs that are considered a “man’s job”.
She urges any woman out there who wants to go work on the bins “to go for it”.
The rest of the video shows the banter within the team and the importance of a healthy working environment.
Duane who is the bin lorry driver said: “It is a good working environment as well.
“As long as you have a decent crew then you do have a bit of banter and a bit of fun while you’re out there.”
Some viewers were proud to see Julie working in the industry writing “Good on you” in the comments.
Another user said: “Our place has two women at the moment.
“Both started as loaders and now drivers.”
While another wrote: “We’ve got a woman working here and she’s a driver.”
It is clear from the comments more women could be working as bin loaders like Julie.
This comes after a mother of three who works as a construction worker says men don’t like taking orders from a woman.
And this woman who loves her job as an electrician says she receives creepy messages from men but it won’t get her down.
