Barbie Land has finally landed in your living room courtesy of Max, who are celebrating the occasion with a hot pink homepage, Barbie avatars, behind-the-scenes content, and more. What’s more, the record-smashing blockbuster from Greta Gerwig will also be available to stream with an American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation.
From now until December 18th, Max will keep with the Barbie theme with a custom pink and white logo and pink homepage on supported devices. They’ve also rolled out a handful of profile avatars from the movie to choose from, including Stereotypical Barbie (Margot Robbie), Stereotypical Ken (Ryan Gosling), Gloria (America Ferrera), Dr. Barbie (Hari Nef), President Barbie (Issa Rae), Allan (Michael Cera), and more.
Barbie with ASL was produced exclusively for Max featuring ASL performer Leila Hanaumi.
“Max is the premiere destination for storytelling, so being able to share the biggest movie of the year in ASL, the first language for many, will make this story resonate in a more meaningful way,” Max’s Content Chairman and CEO Casey Bloys said in a press release. “By offering sign language interpretation, we will build upon the film’s empowering message of inclusiveness and offer a unique viewing experience for the Deaf community to enjoy with family and friends.”
Max is also giving a deeper look at Barbie with a bunch of exclusive behind-the-scenes interviews and features that show how the team brought Barbie Land to life, from the costumes to the choreography.
Barbie, both with and without ASL, is on Max now. Revisit our review of the film here.
Consequence recently chatted with Barbie composers Mark Ronson and Andrew Wyatt about the film’s Grammy-nominated soundtrack.
