Tori Spelling has provided an update on her eldest son’s well-being following surgery.
Shortly after she posted a photo of Liam Aaron McDermott in a hospital bed before his foot surgery, the 50-year-old told her many followers and fans that his recovery had started. However, before that, she credited the podiatrist responsible for the procedure’s “success,” Dr. Brooke Gifford.
Tori Spelling Explains Son’s Ordeal After Successful Surgery
In the hours after Liam underwent his surgery, Spelling took to social media to share a photo of him and a physician, expressing that “My guy did great.” While her son wore a white hospital gown and beanie, the doctor, who leaned in close for the shot, sported a blue collared shirt with a stethoscope around his neck.
The “Beverly Hills, 90210” alum identified the procedure’s location and extended gratitude to the doctors involved across the image. She wrote, “surgery was a success thx to Dr. Gifford our amazing foot & ankle surgeon and her team at Thousand Oaks Surgical Hospital.”
Spelling disclosed that Liam received a visit from his pediatrician, whom she referred to as “family.” In a subsequent Instagram Story, she shared an image of the 16-year-old’s bandaged foot, noting, “Now the recovery process begins. It’s going to be a long journey, but we take it day by day.”
She also expressed gratitude for those who checked in on Liam, mentioning that their support made him feel “so loved” and that it “meant a lot to him.” As for what happened to her son, the “Spelling It As It Is” author explained that the teen had fallen down the stairs at home, resulting in pain and immobility.
After six weeks of “no healing” the family opted for the foot surgery, which involved removing a fractured navicular accessory bone in his right foot and reattaching the tendon to his main bone using a metal hook rod.
Spelling opened up about her and the self-acclaimed fashion designer’s unease in her initial update about Liam’s condition. Alongside a snapshot of the youngster covered with a white hospital sheet with his phone nestled beside his IV-infused arm, she penned, “My 1st baby waiting to go into foot surgery. Not sure who’s more nervous, him or mama.”
She continued her message at the bottom of the Instagram Story picture, writing a sweet text for her son that read, “Proud of your bravery. And things can only get better after this.”
The procedure notably happened several months after his immediate younger sister, Stella Doreen, faced her own health issues. In January, Spelling appeared on SiriusXM’s “Jeff Lewis Live,” offering an update on the 15-year-old, who had been briefly hospitalized.
At that time, she mentioned that Stella was “not great” and had been diagnosed with a hemiplegic migraine that apparently runs in her ex-husband, Dean McDermott’s family.
Spelling Is Looking Out For Her Kids Amid Estranged Partner’s Marital Confessions
Last month, Spelling had allegedly reacted to the surprising revelations from her ex-husband about the factors leading to the end of their 18-year marriage. In case you missed it, during an insightful conversation, the father of seven took responsibility for being the cause of the dispute.
According to the Canadian personality, his struggles with substance abuse significantly contributed to the breakdown of the former couple’s marriage. McDermott recounted being intoxicated during a heated argument with his ex-wife, leading to his emotionally charged but since-deleted announcement of their separation.
Upon the details of the interview going live, one insider asserted, “Tori is a little hurt and upset by Dean’s recent tell-all type of interview… She recognizes that Dean spoke about her relatively positively, but she feels protective over her children.”
The source claimed that the mother of five was trying to remain unfazed by McDermott’s confessions, especially for her daughter, Stella, who is old enough to comprehend the situation. The informant further expressed:
“Tori is trying to stay positive and keep things afloat for her family and not let Dean’s words impact her too much.”
Besides Stella and Liam, the estranged lovebirds also share Hattie Margaret, Finn Davey, and Beau Dean.
