Amina Muaddi has responded to the cheating and breakup rumors surrounding ASAP Rocky and Rihanna, which were earlier on Friday reported via a TMZ source as indeed being “1 million percent not true.”
In Muaddi’s statement, shared via Instagram Stories, the designer noted that we (unfortunately) “live in a society that is so quick to speak on topics regardless of factual basis.” She also reflected on how the falsehoods were negatively affecting three people at once.
“I’ve always believed that an unfounded lie spread on social media doesn’t deserve any response or clarification, especially one that is so vile,” Muaddi, who has individually collaborated in the past with both Rihanna and Rocky, also said. After initially assuming that this “fake gossip” wouldn’t be taken seriously, Muaddi explained, she now feels compelled to speak out due to the claims also involving people for whom she has a “great amount of respect and affection.”

A source previously told TMZ on Friday that the unfounded claims, which alleged that Rocky and Rihanna had split due to infidelity, were false. A Page Six source said the same. Still, despite zero evidence, the out-of-nowhere rumors were all over Twitter and elsewhere this week. As Muaddi touched on in her subsequent statement, this is indeed due to the current nature of how such gossip is treated on social media and beyond.
Neither Rihanna nor Rocky have responded to the claims. This week, Rihanna appeared on the cover of Vogue, discussing her and Rocky’s relationship (and first child together) in the accompanying interview. Rocky, meanwhile, is fresh off the release of his and ASAP Ant’s “The God Hour” video.
