On the heels of his latest album, Lahai, Sampha has announced a headlining North American tour for 2024 and shared a new music video for his song, “Can’t Go Back.”
Lahai arrived this past October, and earned a shoutout from Consequence’s Sun Noor as one of the best albums released that month. “Named after his grandfather, [Lahai is] a soulful and experimental record with a hopeful outlook,” Noor wrote. In support of the album, Sampha played a handful of US shows in November, and is currently overseas for a mini European tour. Now, though, he’s unveiled plans for a more comprehensive North American tour.
Things will kick off with a performance at the Ceremonia Festival in Mexico City on March 23rd, after which Sampha will bop around the continent, stopping in cities like Miami, Nashville, Boston, Denver, Seattle, Vancouver, and more. Tickets for the shows will first become available via an artist pre-sale (sign up here), after which they can be found here. Check out the full list of dates below.
Additionally, Sampha will play a handful of Australian dates next February. To secure seats for those shows — or any of his overseas dates — check out Viagogo.
Meanwhile, Sampha has also shared the music video for “Can’t Go Back,” the 10th track on Lahai. Directed by Saad Moosajee, the video depicts Sampha “seeking therapy in nature” while abstractly moving through time.
In a comment on the music video’s YouTube upload, Sampha explained: “I spent a lot of time predicting negativity would come my way based on previous life experiences. I would rush past everything thinking I had no time to do anything. I think writing this song was part of learning how to forgive myself in that state of being and to say it’s ok to start now. It’s not always too late. It’s just as important to slow down and recognise I have boundaries and a bandwidth.” Watch the video for “Can’t Go Back” below.
