Locke & Key is wrapping up its fantastical adventure. And hopefully, all the remaining Keyhouse mysteries will wrap up with it. The beloved Netflix series will end after its upcoming third and final season. Executive producers and showrunners Carlton Cuse and Meredith Averill confirmed the news of Locke & Key‘s final Netflix season in a statement.
The statement, posted to the Netflix Geeked Twitter account, reads:
“nce we began working on the series, we felt three seasons was the ideal length to bring the story of the Locke family and their Keyhouse adventures to a satisfying conclusion. As storytellers, we are grateful that we had the opportunity to tell our version of Joe Hill and Gabriel Rodriguez’s incredible story exactly the way we wanted. We’re keeping the magical keys, though, for our own personal use.
Additionally, Netflix released a whole bunch of new Locke & Key season three images. These pictures help ease the news and hold us over until we can get more of the show, proper. They do certainly pique our interest.
While it’s sad for fans who wanted to see the Locke adventures continue on, it’s comforting to know that Locke & Key season three will deliver a satisfying conclusion to the saga. Based on Joe Hill and Gabriel Rodriguez’s beloved comic book series, Locke & Key follows the titular Locke family who moves to their family’s ancestral home, Keyhouse Manor, after their father’s sudden death. However, as the house’s name suggests, the three Locke siblings discover magical keys hidden throughout the house. And, of course, some dangerous secrets.
Given season three is the final season of Locke & Key, we have no doubt Cuse and Averill will keep viewers on our toes. For instance, have we really seen the last of Dodge? And what havoc will Frederick Gideon wreak now that he’s in the 21st century? We still have so many questions. Hopefully, Cuse and Averill answer most of them. We can’t wait for more of the show, regardless. But we will cross our fingers we won’t get any surprise cliffhangers. The final season of a show seems like a better place for resolving mysteries than for building them.
Locke & Key stars Connor Jessup, Emilia Jones, Jackson Robert Scott, Darby Stanchfield, Sherri Saum, Brendan Hines, Coby Bird, and Aaron Ashmore. A stellar cast that we will miss. But hopefully, we won’t have to wait too long to see them again.
Locke & Key season three will debut in 2022 on Netflix.
