The next chapter in Netflix’s Castlevania universe has arrived. For those looking to sink their fangs into all-new vampire adventures, there are more undead battles waiting on an epic scale. This next installment of Castlevania will combine the French Revolution, a Vampire Messiah, and a new Belmont descendent. Here’s the trailer for Castlevania: Nocturne.
Fans of Netflix’s original Castlevania series will be glad to know the drama of the original is absolutely intact. And Nocturne‘s animation and artwork are every bit as beautiful. Between that, the music, the slowly pervading threat, and the feeling of emotionality that builds, we actually got chills from this Castlevania: Nocturne trailer. And this is only a taste of what’s to come.
A synopsis for Castlevania: Nocturne highlights more about the scenes we see play out in the trailer. It shares:
France, 1792 – the height of the French Revolution. In a remote part of western France, the counter-revolutionary aristocracy has forged an alliance with a terrifying Vampire Messiah, who promises to ‘eat the sun’ and unleash an army of vampires and nightcreatures to crush the revolution and enslave humanity. Annette, a sorceress from the Caribbean, seeks out Richter Belmont, last descendant of the long-fabled family of vampire hunters, to lead the resistance.
Eating the sun would be quite a feat, indeed. Although we assume Castlevania: Nocturne‘s Vampire Messiah is speaking in figurative terms. Still, an army of vampires is something no one wants to meet in the dark. But meet them we will. Good thing a Belmont is on the case—that family never quits… But then again, neither do the vampires. Between everything else, we hope we’ll get to see some familiar faces from the original Castlevania series, like that of Alucard.
Castlevania: Nocturne releases on September 28. The series will have eight episodes and will stream, of course, on Netflix. We can’t wait to immerse ourselves back into this enchanting but deadly world.
