It’s time for Robert De Niro to host a family get-together. In a recent interview with People, the father of seven revealed that his six older children haven’t met their new baby sister yet.
De Niro and his girlfriend, Tiffany Chen, welcomed their first child, Gia Virginia, on April 6. The “Irishman” actor is also father to Drena, 51, and Raphael, 46, with first his wife, Diahnne Abbott; and 27-year-old twins Julian and Aaron with Toukie Smith. Additionally, he also shares 24-year-old Elliot and 11-year-old Helen with Grace Hightower.
When asked if his older kids had met their new sibling yet, De Niro said, “Not yet, but they will.” The happy occasion might even occur on Father’s Day, since the actor said he planned on spending the day with his children. He told the publication he’s “just gonna spend it with the kids and all that.”
De Niro first shared details about the arrival of his daughter with Chen on a May episode of “CBS Mornings.” At the time, he shared his little one’s full name, Gia Virginia Chen De Niro, a photo, and revealed she was 8 lbs., 6 oz. when she was born. Later on the same day, the “Bronx Tale” star appeared on “Today,” where he discussed his feelings on becoming a dad again so late in life.
“It feels great, yeah,” he said. “I have certain awareness — when you’re older you have awareness of certain things in life, dynamics, everything, family dynamics. You can’t avoid learning certain things and how you can deal with those and manage them and this and that, the usual. It’s amazing, but I’m very happy about it.”
De Niro and Chen have mostly kept their relationship out of the public eye, but the actor and the martial arts instructor were first connected in 2021. The new parents recently stepped out for their first post-baby date at the Cannes Film Festival in May.
