Acclaimed actress Deidre Hall has a major TV milestone to celebrate. She just celebrated her 5,000th episode on the hit daytime drama “Days of Our Lives.”
Hall is known for playing the iconic role of Dr. Marlena Evans for well over 45 years, and she has been entertaining generations of audiences day in and day out as the Salem matriarch and clinical psychiatrist.
On Friday, May 12th, a tribute episode in her honor aired on Peacock, which is the streaming service home of “Days of Our Lives.” This special episode was well-written, entertaining, and nostalgic thanks to all of the Marlena flashbacks. It was a fitting homage for a daytime TV icon.
In this episode, her regal character celebrated treating her 5000th career patient while out at dinner with her onscreen husband John (played by Drake Hogestyn). Marlene responded to John, “5000 isn’t such a crazy number after all.”
Hall has certainly had many memorable storylines over the decades, which include the possession storyline (by the devil), as well as proxy murdered by the Salem Stalker, and she served as a psychiatrist probing dark and detrimental secrets.
For her powerhouse acting performances as Marlena, Hall has been nominated for three Daytime Emmy Awards in 1980, 1984, and 1985, respectively. In 2014, Hall was recognized with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
This milestone makes Deidre Hall the longest-running daytime actress ever.
